[I got this wonderful adaptation of Tintin's adventures in an email from Parham (dasatet dard nakoneh!). Bozorgmehr Hosseinpour has done such a beautiful job that it actually feels like a new episode by Hergé himself. The cover illustration was done in 2002 by the brilliant Zartosht Soltani. But the rest is all Hosseinpour's. I LOVED it. Enjoy! -- Jahanshah Javid]

Ahhh...memories
by Anonymous Observer on Tue Feb 24, 2009 12:44 PM PSTI grew up reading Tin Tin....My favorites were "hadaf koreye mah" (Target: the Moon) and "Ganjhayeh Rakam" (Rakam's treasures). My father used to buy the books for me from a bookstore in Alfi Square in Abadan, and when they ran out of new espidoes, he would search for new ones at bookstores in Tehran on his many trips there. I would give him a wish list of the ones that I wanted, and hadn't read, from list on the back cover of the ones that I had, and he would look for them. Seeing Tin Tin's image for me is like seeing a picture of a family member.
BTW, Spielberg is working on a new Tin Tin film. Here's the info:

Good Work, But ...
by MiNeum71 on Mon Feb 23, 2009 01:41 PM PSTThis is a great drawing work in spite of some basic mistakes.
But: The story is full of clichés (this is also the reason why Hergé was critisized often) and above all very weak.
Thank you!
by Artificial Intelligence on Sun Feb 22, 2009 11:13 AM PSTI loved Tin Tin and had all his books in Iran. Good memmories.
This should be a first of
by desi on Sat Feb 21, 2009 08:38 AM PSTThis should be a first of many Iranian Tintins. I think there should be a Tintin in Mashed, Rasht, Tabriz etc... Great job.
I'm in stitches
by BK (not verified) on Sat Feb 21, 2009 03:36 AM PSTVery funny indeed and beautifully observed. Great job.
And jj is correct. This is NOT plagiarism. This is satirising the daily life in Iran. Many other cartoonists use fictional (and real) characters for the same or similar reasons all over the world and there is nothing illegal about it.
I'm still laughing....hehe.
Hehe! :)
by tintin fan (not verified) on Fri Feb 20, 2009 09:12 PM PSTGrew up with Tintin and absolutely loved the series. Thanks for creating this piece. It was creative.
I want the next episodes to also show the Iranian police beating up kids and arresting students. Also, need to have a few transexuals represented. Add some AIDS patients, drug addicts, and public executions as well to fully represent what is going on today in Iran. It is sad but true.

Fabulous!
by Quebeqi on Fri Feb 20, 2009 05:38 PM PSTIt is so good that I posted this page to a Québécois comic book forum named Bédé-Québec. I have many quebeqi friends who are comic book artists and they will surely be interested by this adventure of Tintin in Tehran. Especially when Tintin is actually working as a journalist and trying to find a girlfriend...:)
Here's the link to Bédé-Québec forum (sorry, it is in French only):

Brilliant!
by ganselmi on Fri Feb 20, 2009 05:16 PM PSTGrowing up in Tehran, I read most of the Tintin (and Asterix) books, some in Farsi, others in English. I still consider myself a huge Tintin fan.
I thought this whole project was simply brilliant -- copyright infringement be damned!
Barikala!

by tsion on Fri Feb 20, 2009 04:31 PM PSTYour article on the similarities between "The Land of the Black Pelikan" and "The Peacock Throne" was fascinating!
These cartoons are pretty nice too. Good job.

TinTin Cop?!
by Jahanshah Javid on Fri Feb 20, 2009 03:55 PM PSTYes, Iranians have little respect for copyright. But this is not an example of "plagiarism". This is satire/parody AND completely legal and common in the art world.

Plagiarism and illegal coping the Iranian tradition
by TinTin Cop (not verified) on Fri Feb 20, 2009 01:48 PM PSTWay to go! Plagiarism and illegal coping is an integral part of Iranian culture. I am sure you did not think for a moment that this could be copyright infringement.
Very nice adaptation!
