Betwa Sharma, Huffington Post: She came all the way from Switzerland to join the three-day hunger strike a block away from the United Nations [see video]. "They're my people and it is my cause," says Monel, a 60-year old nurse who did jail-time under the Shah and then clashed with the Islamic regime. A few years after the revolution, Monel fled the country after being beaten in a rally to protest the new regime's imposition of conservative clothing that forced women to don chadors. "The fundamentalism became too repressive," she says. "They stole our revolution from us," chimes in Essie Mohaddessi, 47, who landed from Sacramento last evening and hasn't eaten since the morning. Great Initiative and Long Due ...

Finally everyone accepts to play an active role in support of Iranians struggle for Freedom and Democracy.

I tried to help a cultural organization in Budapest Hungary a few years ago to gather Iranian artists worldwide in support of Iranian Arts and humanities at a time when Ahmadinejad had organized the shameful Holocaust Conference in Tehran.

All the artists were very helpful and I believe it was important at the time to express our true Persian Identity but also humanistic values when these were precisely stamped upon by Iran's government and cultural officials.

One small note however about your photo essay. It would have been good to see a group photo of all the known participators together. Googoosh and Aghdashloo have been at odds for some time and although present at this event it would have been nice to see them together with Ebi, Dariush and other Artists as a sign of reconciliation.

Let's keep the movement green until final victory!

If a pictures says a 1000 words, I think this color of green says alot about what is taking place in Iran. Some Iranian commentators who have lived most of the last 30 years in exie in Los Angeles do not understand the importance of the color of green and they try to replace this color with the Iranian flag as it was prior to the 1979 revolution. This is a sensitive subject to many Iranians but I think those who do this, not only help the cause of Iranians inside Iran, they are actually hurting it. Iranian people's problem right now inside Iran is not the flag and frankly if you randomely call on Iranians living inside iran, you will learn that the subject of which symbol should be on the flag is not their concern at this time.  Usually any country which goes through a big revolution such as the one that took place in 1979 in Iran, tends to change their national flag a little to show to the world that there is a new boss in the house. Anyways, the issue of Flag can be resolved by a free referondum when our beloved Iran is free of tyrany.

For now, let's keep wearing green in all demonstrations outside Iran to show our solidarity with the Iranians inside Iran. The world is learning of this movement and we should not do anything to cause division among us who live outside Iran.
