by TheMrs on Wed Jan 26, 2011 06:09 AM PSTwhy take a purse to being with? even if they're exiting, koja mage miran grocery shopping? It just looks odd. They should've left it back stage in the limo/car or whatever they came with. I know this wasn't a party but I never see anyone on stage with a purse not at awards shows, not at memorials, not at funerals of the rich and famous...this is the first time. Especially as the family of the deceased, they are kind of the guest of honor on stage. No purse. Unless it's a man purse, then it would be funny and totally ok.
Milani leaves out a "O" as usual. 40,000 were executed in 1 wk
by SOS-FREE-IRAN on Tue Jan 25, 2011 11:06 PM PSTMilani is notoriously unreliable particularly about the crimes of Islamic Republic against Iran. He has reduced the 40,000 executions in 1 week to 4,000. He leaves out that during Khomeini's rule at least 1.5 million Iranians were executed. Since the satan's death, many more millions have been executed, starved, and poisoned. As you know, Mr. Milani was one of those radical terrorists who overthrew the Pahlavi Monarchy. He is a sworn enemy of Pahlavi Family and spreads false rumors about them. He worked with Ayatollah Khomeini and Moussavi to lay the ground work for this revolution and then stayed for 7 years to solidify its foundations and fabricate a passport so that he could come to America under the pretext that he was a dissident to set up shop to help his buddies in Islamic Republic. For that he has been rewarded - all his dreams have been funded -- and conveniently they have set up Moghadam Fund to appoint him Chair at Stanford. Shame on Stanford for taking this pseudoscholar and distorter of history. He is a traitor to Iran. Now you expect him to report the truth? He will always mix it up. One part truth, one part lies. This is another strategy that British love to use to undermine and confuse people and keep people in the dark. There is a picture of Mr. Milani spying in the King's office. Mr. Milani was a spy and he was arrested for espionage. Why doesnt he talk about his activities during the Pahlavi Era and Islamic Republic in detail?

Why do you care 4000, or what
by Onslow on Tue Jan 25, 2011 06:37 PM PSTEven those of yous who escaped from Khomeini, are killing yourselves. Get a life.
Only 4000?
by G. Rahmanian on Tue Jan 25, 2011 06:24 PM PSTIranians need to know the truth! How did Milani come up with that figure? Is his source IR officials, as is the case in the writing of such historical accounts? We don't know the real figure. Some say up to 30,000 were excuted during those months. Many in their cells in order to hasten the process. And Milani should not give any figure when nothing is certain, yet. The regime is even denying the killings of June 2009 and the number of political prisoners.
Sorry a bit off topic but I
by vildemose on Tue Jan 25, 2011 04:32 PM PSTSorry a bit off topic but I find it very enlightening:
Memarian: How is it different than the current government in Tehran in dealing with peaceful protests?
Milani: If you look at the number of people killed as a result of assassinations, or through execution by the Shah's regime, the total number is less that 1,500 during his 37-year rule. Ayatollah Khomeini ordered the death of 4,000 people in prison, in a few months in 1988.
Memarian: Regarding your facts and understanding on the Coup, how can we draw a line between the reality and the myth about the Coup, which has occupied the historical memory of a nation.
Milani: What I would hope people would take away from it, is that as a nation we have to stop believing in these mythologies. We have to start looking at the evidence and the reality and come to a nuanced judgment. The royalists want us to believe that this is a national uprising, that the 28th of Mordad was a national uprising and that nobody had anything to do with it other than the military and the people of Iran, who rose up against Mossadeq. I think that's false. The Mossadeqists want us to believe that this was a CIA coup or a CIA-British coup and there was nothing wrong with any of the Mossadeq policies. They want us to believe that the only reason Mossadeq fell was because of the CIA intervention, and had the CIA not intervened, Iran would be a democratic heaven today. I think that's false as well.

The Riches' Embarassment
by Demo on Tue Jan 25, 2011 02:50 PM PSTOver the suicidal loss of 2 young will not go anywhere by such "showy miss you party." The 2 probably were over conscious to turn to drugs & to terminate their lives upon learning of their dad's dictatorial reign over their country & of the fake characters?? among their family members!!

mrs. the picture of sphinx
by hamsade ghadimi on Tue Jan 25, 2011 01:44 PM PSTmrs. the picture of sphinx you're referring to is the creativity of the writer of this blog and was not part of the memorial material. you're right that it would be have been a bit weird to have something like that in the memorial.
btw, the family was told that they will be exiting. at the last moment, they were directed to the stage to take a final bow. farah pahlavi had left her purse to talk and one of the teenagers was too 'havaas-part' and left her purse. the other two didn't forget their purses. the whole thing was not rehearsed and the family were not (rightfully so) in their right mind. give it a break, lady. go see 'ordinary people' and you'll understand the state of mind of people in mourning.
Also, why does it say
by TheMrs on Tue Jan 25, 2011 01:29 PM PSTAlso, why does it say honoring a persian sphinx? why sphinx? I don't understand the use of that word and why is reza pahlavi on that picture? I don't get the connection. It's the funeral of the younger brother so I can see why they would have a picture of those who passed away but what is Reza doing waving in the middle of that picture.
Am I the only one who thinks
by TheMrs on Tue Jan 25, 2011 01:25 PM PSTAm I the only one who thinks it looks strange that 2 of the ladies took their purse on stage? It looks so odd.

Sending them a warm hug
by Azarin Sadegh on Tue Jan 25, 2011 11:46 AM PSTLooking at these photos, I wished I could hug Shahbaano and especially Princess Farahnaz who both had this empty gaze and forced smile...such a sad photo essay. There was lots of pain in these pictures.
Hopefully, Alireza's ashes have already been scattered over the Caspian Sea...so he could finally rest in peace.

Do Not Expect Anything From Pahlavies
by Hossein Nikkhah on Tue Jan 25, 2011 11:34 AM PSTThe Pahlavies are interested only to take over the power and nothing else.
Otherwise they would do some thing for their compatriots and not only speechs.
