My uncle Dr Bahram Javid was honored by hundreds of his peers and former students in Los Angeles on Oct 25th for his life-long achievements. It was a beautiful occasion for a man who is deeply loved and appreciated for his kindness and service to the medical community. I have wonderful memories of him, his lovely wife Ziba, and my cousins in Shiraz as well as the San Francisco Bay Area. Here's one photo from the mid 1970s. Congratulations Amoo Jan! Love you lots!

Here's a brief bio: "Dr. Bahram Javid is currently Chairman of the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the School of Dentistry at the University of Pacific in San Francisco, California. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the School of Dentistry at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), where he was twice voted Teacher of the Year. Dr. Javid is founder of School of Dental Medicine and served as both the Dean of School of Dental Medicine and Dean of Students at the School of Medicine at Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran. Abbas Atrvash

Shiraz most popular doctor

by Abbas Atrvash on

In early 1960s, just few years after Shiraz Namazi Hospital was opened, the head of the hospital dental department was a young Farang educated doctor. When I arrived in Shiraz, I was told that since this doctor has joined the hospital the city girls tooth problem has increased and the only place they seek treatment is Namazi dental centre and their only favourite doctor is Dr. Bahram Javid.  So who was this Dr. Javid? He was an extremely popular, very handsome and most sought after bachelor in town.

Joking aside, Dr. Bahram Javid, for many years besides serving Shiraz public, was one of the main pillars of Shiraz Pahlavi University, who generously provided his knowledge and experience to his students.

But what makes Dr. Javid outstanding is that all his life he served the pople humbly, honestly and quietly without usual ballyhoo.

Bahram jaan, you deserve all the hnours and awards in the world and your family and friends will always remain proud of you. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Abbas

It was in 1981, my father was in Evin. It was hard times for all of us. My younger brother fall down from the top of parking lot to the street. His jaws was broken. Doctors in Tehran they want to make a surgery. Dr Javid who is very close to my parents said don't do it because of its side effects on my brother, he was only 4 years old. He told us "send him to me". One month later when I travelled to Shiraz to bring my brother back he was completly recovered from his injuries without any surgery. Thank you Dr Javid my family and I won't never forget for what you did on my brother and congratulation.

The Charming Doctor

by Nazy Kaviani on

Your uncle is one of the most charming gentlemen I have ever met! He not only is a respected professional, a beloved teacher, and an excellent academic, he is a great conversationalist, a very witty man, and a complete joy to know.

Good for those who took the time to celebrate Dr. Javid's many years of leadership, teaching, and friendship. Lucky for those who had the chance to attend the ceremony. With best wishes for Dr. Javid, Ziba, and their wonderful family.

Congradulations Dr. Javid,

I had to put up with those infamous "braces" you had me wear for 4 years as a teen in order to straighten my teeth. It broke my chances with girls at the Parties in those days but It was rewarding on the long run. ;0)

I recall that you were the best dentist in Shiraz and most probably in all of Iran in those days and my Father had a great respect for you and your work.

Warm Regards from a Rainy Paris,

Darius KADIVAR
