Because you were obviously not interested in wildlife and the environment before the revolution, when Eskandar Firuz saved the last ones. We owe them to him. Their numbers must have increased considerably, since they are still there. And this despite the fact that, immediately after the revolution, a number of thugs captured many of them, slit their throats and ate them. I guess that's the sort of freedom these savages expected of a revolution.
