Peace activists sailing towards the Gaza Strip to break a suffocating siege have lost contact with the world amid Israeli threats.
As the two boats carrying 46 activists from 14 countries neared the area, their electronic systems were jammed and scrambled and they are unable to use their electronic navigation instruments and transmit distress messages.
According to the group's website, freeGaza.org, "all electronic systems aboard the SS Free Gaza and SS Liberty have been jammed and scrambled."
We are currently relying on our satellite communications equipment to make a distress call, if needed, the Free Gaza Movement said in a statement.
"This interference runs contrary to international shipping rules and safe navigation rules," said Syriza, one of whose parliamentary deputies, Tassos Kourakis, is among the activists.
This is while PressTv's attempts to communicate with its journalist, Yvonne Ridley have been unsuccessful.
Israel jammed their communications following its threats against the activists.
Israeli officials said on Saturday that Israel was closely following the boats and "all the options are being considered.''

by kaleh dar on Sun Aug 24, 2008 11:21 AM PDTIsn't , PressTV the mouthpiece of Iranian regime, founded by them and headqurtered in London, so take their news with a grain of salt.
Yes, Free Gaza peace activists reached Gaza. It's a victory for
by kaleh pakh (not verified) on Sat Aug 23, 2008 10:41 PM PDTThe Human Rights. As they arrived, children swarmed around and leaped into water in joy, while thousands of cheering residents looked on from the shore. They wanted to prove that ordinary citizens with ordinary means can mobilise a defence of human rights for the Palestinians.
Not True!!!
by Anonymous Observer (not verified) on Sat Aug 23, 2008 08:28 PM PDTI hate to burst your anti-Israeli bubbles, but according to the group's own website, the boats have reached Gaza safe and sound. Here, read:

God, you people are unbelievable....
They expect compassion, understanding
by the real realist (not verified) on Sat Aug 23, 2008 12:54 PM PDTAs far as the zionists are concerned: Compassion and understanding should be forwarded towards jews only. As far as the zionists are concerned, "The whole world is revolving around jews" and only they deserve the best. To them Palestinians, peace activists and muslims don't matter. Zionism is a sinking ship. It may take a while but it will sink due to its own violent and greedy viewpoint.
what else do you expect
by realist (not verified) on Sat Aug 23, 2008 09:04 AM PDTDo you expect the Israelis to roll a red carpet for them upon their arrival. They do not want any attention given to Gaza strip or the free Gaza group get any publicity from their journey even when their mission is humanitarian. The group would be returned without being able to even get close to Gaza, but good luck anyway.
