China's Shenzhou VII space capsule has returned to Earth after a successful mission orbiting the planet.
The spacecraft touched down in the Mongolian desert to rapturous applause from mission control in Beijing.
Looking well, the three astronauts emerged to wave to cameras before being given bouquets of flowers.
While in orbit, the men conducted experiments said to be crucial to China's space programme, as well as its first space walk.
Mission leader and fighter pilot Zhai Zhigang, 42, was first to emerge from the capsule, and is now set to be greeted as a national hero.
"It was a glorious mission, full of challenges with a successful end," he said.

Mehdi Israel should help in this!
by Mehdi Mazloom on Mon Sep 29, 2008 10:27 PM PDTI have no doubt, many of my country's leaders would love to help the tarboosh-ha to reach the heavens on a one way trip.
The Mullah even can take with them some of our own religious fanatics. They will make a good dancing partners.
Israel should help in this!
by Mehdi on Mon Sep 29, 2008 06:57 PM PDTIf Mehdi Mazloom wants his wish to come true, he should get his country, Israel to help out ;)
Comparing Apples & Oranges
by Anonymous111 (not verified) on Mon Sep 29, 2008 07:28 AM PDTYou are comparing apples and oranges just to belittle the U.S. First, the U.S. spacewalk took place over twenty years ago, plenty of time for the Chinese to study and learn from it. Second, unlike the U.S., China does not have a free media. Therefore, God only knows what really happened up there. Considering that the Chinese accidentally published their fake news broadcast of the success of the mission (complete with detailed fake exchanges between their astronauts and the ground station!) it is only safe to assume that they would not tell anyone if anything did actually go wrong during their spacewalk.

I would be excited and pleased if Iran in fact launches a rocket with men into space doing space walk. Now if those gentlemen that you have listed go too, so much the better !!!. The fact that Iran is planning to put a man in space in 10 years in itself is a great goal, no matter who those people will be !
Iran will even do better
by Mehdi Mazloom on Sun Sep 28, 2008 02:57 PM PDTAre you kidding?. the Akhoondah will do far better then that.
They will send these Ayatollahs into the space on a one way journey to look for the Hidden Mehdi.
Their feat will dwarf anything US, Russia, and now China have done in space.
When my favorite dwarf Akh-mag-e-nejad speaks of "new dawn for civilization had arrived". That what he means.
