Palestinian medical workers say a member of a militant group has died in an explosion in the Gaza Strip.
Another militant is said to have been seriously injured in the incident, which happened near a refugee camp.
Witnesses say the blast was caused by an Israeli air attack, but the Israeli army has denied involvement.
The incident comes a day after aid agencies warned of a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza if a five-month-old ceasefire is allowed to collapse.
The Popular Resistance Committees militant group said that an Israeli air strike had targeted a group of its fighters as they approached the Israel-Gaza border near the northern town of Beit Hanoun.
However, a spokesman for the Israeli army denied that it had carried out an air strike.
Analysts say the conflicting reports highlight growing tensions between Israel and the Palestinians as the five-month-old Gaza truce continues to unravel.

No, Gaza IS occupied!!!!!!!!!
by Mehdi Mazloom on Mon Nov 17, 2008 09:24 AM PSTbaba,
Last I heard "Mehdi" is a name of a man. Not a woman. It is mister not Mrs.
You wrote:

Where have you been all this time Mrs. Mazloom?
I am right here. Would you be surprised to learn that, LEGALLY these people who call themselves "Palestinians" - though they did live and cultivated the land, they never owned it. Just review your history book. The land on that part of the world, was owned by three entities - none of which includes these Arabs.
1. The Ottoman empir, which ruled the area for more then 400 years.
2. Wealthy absentee Arab land owners (Effendi), whom were living in Cairo, Damascus, Beirut, Amman, Baghdad, etc. From whom these Pals were leasing the land (Share crop), and paying them absorbent amount of money.
3. 7% of the land was it owned by Jews, whom through Rothschild family bought and paid full cash for the land. A fact which rarely if ever Arab pundits will admit to.
Yes, Gaza it occupied all right. It is the occupation of hate, poverty, desperation and more desperation, instilled in the hearts and mind to the poor Palestinians there by leaders of Hamas.
Instead of building a viable society which can sustain itself. Hamas leaders prefer the path of self destruction. The need for revenge and subjugate others to their own barbaric and backward brand of Islam.
had Israel's major religion been Islam, instead of Jewish - you can bet your Persian Ghalli that, the Palestinian problem would not exist.
Just review how Islam had expanded its dominance throughout the region - Including the former glorious Persia, to realize the real agenda here.
Land is not the real motive behind the Refugee problem. Try the decadent religious dogma.

Gaza In NOT occupied
by Mehdi Mazloom on Sun Nov 16, 2008 01:19 PM PSTWho is "D", and what is he dying from.?
It is evident that you, neither follow the facts on the ground, and therefore, a hostage to your own prejudices against Israel. Nor see Hamas's true path of self destruction.
The hard fact is, Gaza is occupied by the Palestinians. Not a single Israeli lives there.
Considering the fact that now we have two Palestinian entities Hamastan and West Bank. Each no longer speaks for the other. Hamastan is in Gaza.
What is the reason for Hamas launch useless rockets from Gaza onot Israeli towns.?
The reason is clear to everyone (except gullibles like you). hamas invents non existing "occupation" (of Gaza) to manufacture "Resistance". And no one believe, nor trust them any more.
Re: The Militant was testing the device.
by Baba on Sun Nov 16, 2008 07:10 AM PSTMr Or Mrs. Mazloom
I know this may sound strange or "arabic" to you, but fighting occupation is the right of any and all occupied people; as also stated by the Geneva Conventions and the UN charter. The reason the Zio-Nazi occupation of poor palestinians has continued for so long and they have to defend themselevs this way is that the "big daddy" has been vetoing those resolutions brought againsy the Zio-Nazis by the world. Now that the big D is dying we can hope for a better future.
The Militant was testing the device.
by Mehdi Mazloom on Sat Nov 15, 2008 05:00 PM PSTThe terrorist in Gaza was testing the explosive device to see if it works, when it went off.
The Result: The explosive worked..
The much bigger picture.
Back in August 2005, Israel had completely withdrawn from Gaza. Not a single Israeli was left their.
Israel had left a massive units of greenhouses in Gaza. which were providing job to 5000 Palestinians.
Two weeks after Israel had left, all these greenhouses were looted, and
plants stolen by other Pals themselves - w/o Hamas lifting a finger.
5000 jobs which were providing decent living to their families were
gone.
Instead of rolling their sleeves and get down to the hard work of
building a viable society. Instead of importing machinery, chemical
fertilizers donated by the international communities to build homes,
plow their fields, grow crops, build roads and factories. Hamas chose
to import weapon. Use the fertilizers to as explosives. Dig tunnels and
yes use their industrial base to build useless rockets and other means
to conduct wars - rather then build their economies.
I want to see anyone from Israel would dare to stop the Pals from
importing machine and equipment for civilian and peaceful purposes.
Since Hamas chose the path of war and self destruction, they lost any
sympathy from the rest of the world - including their own Arab
neighbors.
So before you present your crockdile tears on behalf of Hamas, I
would suggest you to see the real picture behind Hamas's real agenda
nad intentiions.
