Europe is waiting to see how Obama plays Iran

Iran could now credibly claim to have produced the nuclear elements necessary to make a single atom bomb. It's a new and accelerating situation that's giving life to apprehension in Europe about how Barack Obama will handle trying to stop the Iranian drive... What do Obama's campaign pledges about talking to Iran "directly" and "without preconditions" mean now? And how influential are U.S. experts who argue he should run around Russia's chokehold on the UN Security Council's initiatives and sanctions by starting head-on, "all options on the table" negotiations with the mullahs?

FYI/LATEST:Olmert says no U.S. pressure on Israel over Iran

by Darius Kadivar on

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Tuesday Israel was free to take any action it deemed necessary against Iran's nuclear program, saying there were no U.S. restraints.

But the outgoing Israeli leader, who held farewell talks with U.S. President George W. Bush on Monday, stopped short, in a briefing to reporters, of making any threat to strike Iran.

Israel is far weaker than that. Israel won’t survive 48 hours without the backing of the US.
Always remember that there are two myth that the Zionist dominated media in the US and their fellow travelers try to advance:
1. Israel is a victim and it is a democracy
2. Israel is strong

They are both far from the truth

Much ado about nothing.

Kaveh Afarsiabi explains the motives of the still cunning neo-cons, who seem to have currently infested the French government, in a recent artilce that appeard on the Asia Times Online. The NY Times and is subsidiary IHT are continuing GW's Israeli-inspired and planted propaganda the same way they did before the Iraq ivasion with Judith Miller serving up the gossips. She's gone but NY Times and its subsidiaries don't seem to run out of professional propagandists. For example IHT's success if finding so-called experts such as Bruno Tertrais proves that point.

Please read Afrasiabi's article which debunks NY Time and IHT's gossips mongering.

Israel may well Act alone ... ;0(

by Darius Kadivar on

I think that the Israelians may well do this without any Green light from the US or Europe if they ever think Iran has the Bomb by now,

It would be a mistake but I doubt that the Israelians truly care about the consenquences when it comes to what they see as their survival.

Hope it won't be the case all the more that I very much doubt that they can launch an efficient raid over Iran's nuclear facilities anyway without using bases in Iraq. Obama won't risk this either since he intends to pull out of Iraq calmly.

The Only danger is that the Israelians attack regardless of what the Americans or Europeans think or say.

On the otherhand given Russia's stance on Iran, I doubt the Israelians would do such a thing to embarass their major ally in the region: The US.
