Aides to top US lawmakers expressed surprise on Wednesday after Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani said he was mulling talks with members of the US Congress after receiving letters from them. "Everyone thinks this is dead wrong," an aide to a senior Democratic senator who is a key voice in US foreign policy said after asking other congressional experts about Larijani's claim that US lawmakers had written him. The official, who requested anonymity, said some nongovernmental organizations had been "trying to enlist House members" to support scientific or cultural exchanges with Iran, and that some might have written letters in support of such efforts.

Why should Americans deny it if Larijani spoke the truth?
by Don't be absurd (not verified) on Thu Dec 04, 2008 03:07 PM PSTIt does not make any sense for the majority Democrats in the Congress to deny or hide such a thing while the Democratic president-elect has repeatedly said that he's going to start the process of direct negotiations with mullahs when he takes office in January.
I believe Larijani deliberately lied to tell his gullible audience in Iran and IR's payrollees outside that MIGHTY America is crawling to mullahs' stinky feet and will bend backwards to please them out of despair and helplessness.
