Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said on Monday that Tehran did not attend Manama Conference due to doubts over objectives of its British organizer.
Talking to reporters during his weekly press briefing, he said speeches delivered in the conference were mainly focused on Iranophobia as well as creating discord between the regional states and Iran.
Representatives from 25 countries took part in a three-day conference on security which opened in Bahrain on Friday.
The conference is held each year since 2004 by the Institute of Strategic Studies.
Agenda of the conference included the balance of forces in the region, the economy and security, both in a regional and global context.
Appreciating positive remarks made by Omani Foreign Minister, Yusuf bin Alawi and Secretary-General of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council Abdul-Rahman al-Attiya during the event, he said the two officials announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran has not posed any threat to the regional countries.
They also called for continued diplomatic cooperation with Tehran in order to settle the existing issues, Qashqavi said.
