TEHRAN, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Tehran Mayor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf is shaping up to be a strong political challenger to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, political analysts say. Though he is a former Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander and has twice cracked down on student protests in the city, Ghalibaf is also seen as a pragmatist on relations with the West and is attracting support from a broad political spectrum in the country, The Boston Globe reported Monday.

Well
by Toofantheoncesgreat (not verified) on Wed Dec 24, 2008 07:13 PM PSTGhalibaf has won internatinal acclaim for being the mayor of Teheran. He modernized the city they say.. I dont know. As long as you have a supreme leader, a guardian council and an "oil mafia" (lol).. it really does not matter who the president is. Much like in the US.
election dilemma
by IRANdokht on Wed Dec 24, 2008 11:57 AM PSTI always hated that during US elections, I had to pick between bad and worse... Look at these choices the Iranian voters have!! it's just sad to have Ghalibaf as "the good guy" and the "cool" candidate... but the rest are even worse!
