Here is the shortlist for the 81st Academy Awards, which are being held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on 22 February. Iran's Majid Majidi's "The Song of Sparrows" ( Winner of the Silver Berlin Bear for Best Actor 2008) not selected in final list for Best Foreign film

Some surprises
by Kaveh Nouraee on Thu Jan 22, 2009 11:06 AM PSTNamely, that The Dark Knight didn't receiive a nomination for Best Picture, nor did Christopher Nolan receive one for Best Director.
I'm pretty sure it will win Best Cinematography. I haven't yet seen all of these films, but I can't imagine them being more visually stunning than The Dark Knight.
