Israeli jets have bombed the southern Gaza Strip after a rocket was fired from the Palestinian territory into Israel. There were no immediate reports of any injuries from either the bombing early on Thursday or the rocket fire on Wednesday."An aerial attack took place against a site used to manufacture weapons in an area of the city of Rafah following the firing of a rocket into southern Israel in the evening," an Israeli army spokesman told AFP.There were no immediate reports of any injuries from the strike. Witnesses said a metal foundry in Rafah, which lies near the Egyptian border, was damaged. The Israeli military later said that a second missile was fired into southern Israel from Gaza early on Thursday, but that no damage or injuries were caused. The violence came as George Mitchell, the US envoy to the Middle East, prepared to head for talks with Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, as part of a wider regional tour.
>>>Actually, amending my original comment, the article clearly states Israel retailated by bombing a rocket factory after being rocketed. But much LATER, at the bottom, it mentions a series of previous events which STILL allegedly begin with the Palestinians' inititating but make it unclearer who broke the ceasefire..
so if you wanna jump down my throat because I thought Hamas broke the ceasefire, then YOU feed me the info about the preceding events. And THEN if I don't get it, jump down my throat.
ESPECIALLY if you're not registerred. Register yourself, FEED ME...and then if you think I'm still hungry..
jumo down my throat. Okay, King David?

This feed I posted, Kaveh, Green, was from al Jazeera but
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 29, 2009 04:09 PM PSTthere were a few others (not that many, just a few..). I chose al jazeera because if anything it would be slanted AGAINST ISrael so since they all said Israel'd retaliated, I thought it would be more credible coming from al jazeera.
It appears that al jazeera just made a REALLY REALLY stoooooopid MISTAKE saying al Aqsa is part of Fatah(?)..and now you're telling me they haven't been part of Fatah since 2002!!?? Well, actually that quote of yours DOESN'T quite say that, it says they joined Hamas but it doesn't say they UN-joined Fatah...and at this point...well...like the Green One says, it's confusing..
what I wanna know is where is everyone else (except my good friend King David playing on his lyre...). And so I've asked them, I've made a clarion call to them to participate in discussing this so-called "ceasefire".with rockets and bombs...
Al Jazeera?
by Kaveh Nouraee on Thu Jan 29, 2009 03:42 PM PSTCan anyone honestly expect objectivity from them? They're the PR firm for Al-Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah.
I found this from the Council on Foreign Relations:
The Palestinian group al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade evolved in recent years from a Fatah linked coalition of militias seeking an end to Israel’s presence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip into a more radical organization. Emerging around the time of what Palestinians call the “Second Intifada” in 2000, the brigade at first targeted Israeli settlers and military outposts. But its decision to join Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad and target civilians in Israeli cities in 2002 prompted the U.S. State Department to list the brigade as a terrorist organization and led Washington to abandon efforts to deal with the Palestinian president, the late Yasir Arafat..
you're right... this is confusing

this is kinda old... from summer of 2008. but if kaveh could explain better, it would be helpful.
help us, ye master of information...:-)
David / Kaveh..
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 29, 2009 03:05 PM PSTDavid, what report of mine are you talking about? I didn't say anything REMOTELY like what you just said, about Israel being "defeted" by anyone. I said rockets WILL provoke excessive force from Israel...that's ALL I said..I seem to have misunderstood the extent to which the rocket was retaliatory for the attacks on the tunnel but that's probably because it's at the very end of the article..
so..don't put words in my mouth. You have enough of a mouth for your own words. Like the one about the "genes," you know the Jewish genes. I ASKED you whether you were being ironic or not? You didn't answer. I SAID that's a bad kind of irony to use. So why don't you give me your report on what YOU said? Were you kidding about the violent tendencies of Zionism being in the Jewish genes, and if you weren't kidding, how do you account for Biden?
Anyway, Kaveh, I am still very puzzled because al-jazeera does not SAY that...the al-jazeera feed from THIS MORNING says al-Aqsa is part of Fatah. Is it just a mistake? If so that's some HELLUVA mistake..

Al-Aqsa
by Kaveh Nouraee on Thu Jan 29, 2009 02:29 PM PSTwas a group originally lined with Fatah that broke off and aligned itself with Hamas, whose tuchis they still kiss today.

by king david (not verified) on Thu Jan 29, 2009 02:15 PM PSTRosie , your report showed isreal defeated by terrorists sending fireworks : worlds best armies could not stop Fireworks even after 3 weeks of bombing
reason is : they use paper tubes and suger and fretiziler in it , and it comes from iran of course ..thats why egypt is praised by isreal , like tunnels dont go to another country , so now we can say hamas tunels already reached tehran bazar

As long as Lion feisting on
by king david (not verified) on Thu Jan 29, 2009 01:44 PM PSTAs long as Lion feisting on blood all other animals in jungle are safe ..
so in fact its good for everyone
This is....
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 29, 2009 01:57 PM PSTa very important story, it is part of the repercussions of all this blockade/ship stopping etc. going on, I bet. It is a very tenuous ceasefire. I want it on record who broke it even though I am "non-Zionist Jew." Al-Aqsa is a MARTYRS BRIGADE and everyone knows Israel is capable of responding with excessive force when rocketed (so far this time they haven't...) and well maybe those Al Aqsa guys want to be martyrs but they don't have the right to choose that fate for the ordinary people. Breaking the ceasefire is virtually choosing that fate, they KNOW sooner or later kids'll get bombed. There are probably apocalyptic people in that brigarde who would just as soon see the world go up in flames if they could go to Martyr's Paradise. They should not be calliing the shots (no pun intended...)
truly
by anonymous fish on Thu Jan 29, 2009 12:48 PM PSTshould we consider ourselves the first line of defense? although i'm not sure why roiban even blogged this. i've only just now completely stopped the bleeding from before...:-)
Crikey!!
by Kaveh Nouraee on Thu Jan 29, 2009 09:50 AM PSTIf you listen very carefully, you might be able to hear the clicking noises made by the partially atrophied brains of the modern Iranian Bigot, a species that has proven resistant to reasoning, logic, and good sense.
The clicking noises you hear are actually made by the cerebral cortex of the Bigot, vainly trying to come up with another stupid response in order to deflect blame from Hamas and onto Israel.
But let's not disturb them, otherwise they'll think you're a Zionist and attack. They're very easily rattled when confronted with facts.
C'mon, people, let's admit it...
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jan 29, 2009 01:51 AM PSTAl Aqsa fired the rocket and Israel targeted the rocket factory.
