Things to note.
by Mehdi Mazloom on Fri Jan 30, 2009 11:36 AM PSTYes ostaad, you are right. Israel and Turkey have been like minded and allies for a long long time. bad relationship between the two countries will not serve the best interest of both sides.
After watching this broadcasts, hundreds of thousands of Israelid have canceled their plans to spend their passover holidays in Istanbul and other coastal resorts in Turkey. Bad for their tourist industry.
Few thing behind the scene to notice.
1. Mr. Erdugan's party is an Islamist one. Last year they were one step from being thrown out by the Turkish Supreme court. The military there is watching these government like a hawk to prevent them from pushing Turkey into the pit of Islamists.
2. Ever since the Islamist government was elected, cases of antisemitism throughout Turkey was on the rise. where the present government was perceived of not being effective to reduce it. That did not go well with the Israelis.
3. For many years, Turkey was acting as invited mediator by Israel, between Israel & Syria. Erdugan wanted also to play the same role between Hamas & Israel. However, Israel had to turn him down, as not to insult Mubarak of Egypt. With sagging popularity throughout the Arab & Isramic would. Mubarak needed to play the peace maker and the interlocutor between Israel and Hamas. Israel also needs help from Egypt to influence Hamas. That is the reason, Israel chose Mubarak to take the honer of peace maker, over Erdugan. an act to which Erdugan did not like to be shunned by Israel.
3. Erdugan is still having problem to join the EU membership, which puts him an a bind with the Turkish people. Who knows, by cozying up the western Israel, perhaps he wanted to carry favors with EU.
When that coziness did not bear fruits for him, he decided what the hell.
I am sure this was just a temporatry epizod and good relationship btween the two sattes will be restored.
I bet Hitler could explaing the...
by Ostaad on Fri Jan 30, 2009 07:04 AM PST"reality of the situation" if he were in Davos just as clumsily as that Zionist hyena. Erdogan's reaction was over the top at the end but before that outburst he managed to put forward a solid case against Israel's war crimes in Gaza. The only moron on that stage was that Egyptian Arab who sat there like a potted plant. You Zionists don't seem to realize your loss by alienating the Turks. Turkey is the best thing that happened to Israel and pissing them off will damage your "situation" greatly.
I was also disgusted by the moderator's behavior who seemed to be worried about dinner getting late!
Kodus to Haaretz that put the Youtuve link to entire event in their news piece.
