Walid Jumblatt
by smhb on Fri Feb 06, 2009 05:20 PM PSTHe has changed sides so many times that I can barely remember. Mr. Jumblatt has forgotten that immediate members of his own family are ardent and passionate supporters of resistance.
However, this time around he has put his lot with the bankrupt left overs of south lebanese forces, kataeb / phalange and pro imperialist and zionist forces in Lebanon.
For a so called socialist progressive leader he certainly has chosen the wrong side.
Iran is the only force in the area in the last 30 years trying to smash and break the status quo and the rest are firmly entrenched in the zionist / imperialist camp.
Syria chose to side with Iran immediately after the revolution and stuck it out during the war of aggression against Iran. This alliance has paid dividends and the failed zionist / imperialist attempts during the last 30 years to break this alliance is telling.
The wind of change is blowing very hard over the ME and the day that the zionist / imperialist choke hold is broken is very near.
On that day I can envisage Mr. Jumblatt changing side one more time and singing a different tune or perhaps he will decide to migrate to London, Paris or Washington to get drunk and spew his non-sense.
He represents a certain viewpoint that is extremely
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Fri Feb 06, 2009 01:25 PM PSTregressive in many ways but I like to find different perspectives. His fear of Syrian influence, due to the power of Iran backing it along with Hezbollah, is not atypical, I think. Many non-Shia, very Westernized Levbnese admire Hezbollah but with qualifications, with qualifcations. Or so I've reard.
Ostaad, your knowledge of Middle Eastern politics simply floors me.
Jumbalat's problem is nobody takes him seriously.
by Ostaad on Fri Feb 06, 2009 12:44 PM PSTHe's left out to in the cold to play with himself. Some day these fossilized oligarchs realize the Middle East has change and left them behind.
Excellent
