an ‘extended hand’ would involve immediately lifting the crippling...sanctions. It would also would mean releasing the millions of Iranian assets frozen...engaging in direct talks with the Iranian government over its nuclear programme ....And of course, it would require the immediate end to the threatening presence of the US navy fleet and nuclear submarines in the Persian Gulf...Unfortunately Obama...spoke of Iran in the same rhetoric as the Bush administration

by Ostaad on Sun Feb 15, 2009 07:41 AM PSTDear Naz - I was hoping for more details. I live in the US but I have had extensive interaction with CASMII and they list board members and advisors on the web site (I am not a CASMII member and I don't speak for them). I applaud your group's efforts to campaign against war with Iran. I think we all know the reasons why war with Iran would not benefit anyone anywhere.
I'm still not sure why your group has decided not to reveal its officials' identities. Of course it is entirely up to your group to decide whether they want their names to appear on your web site or not.
Well Ostaad, there's your answer. When
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Sun Feb 15, 2009 06:15 AM PSTI found the site I did think it was kind of...empty. I also blogged the article because I thought the cartoon is soooooooo funny I wanted as many people as possible to see it. It's probably the best cartoon on both O and Mahmood I've ever seen. (I dunno, maybe it's because of the colors, but still I think it's great..Mahmood with that tiny little fist..)
I do think the campaigniran website should have some names, I also think they should post more articles, even if just brief ones, even if just feeds like what we do, so people know they're active. Before the February 13 one, the last one had been months ago.
I am sure they do very good work. It was obvious from the site that they are involved with anti-war events. I just think the website could be more...sort of..proactive...If it hadn't happened to have the current article I might've wondered if they were still really functioning..well maybe they will read this. I will e-mail them about it directly anyway.

Campaign Iran
by Naz Massoumi (not verified) on Sun Feb 15, 2009 03:36 AM PSTSalaam Ostaad
I tried posting a reply earlier but some reason it didn't appear. Campaign Iran is an Iran-focused anti-war organisation that's part of the Stop the War Coalition. We are a group of Iranians, non-Iranians, academics, students, trade unionists, socialists and peace activists who are united against war and sanctions. We build for demonstrations and have organised large public meetings that have included speakers from human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi to the British journalist Rageh Omar.
Look out for our upcoming events on //www.campaigniran.co.uk
or send an email to dontattackiran@campaigniran.co.uk to subscribe to our email bulletins
thanks
Naz
Do they have names, girlfriend?
by Ostaad on Sat Feb 14, 2009 03:36 PM PSTThat's what I'd like to know. It is very peculiar nowadays if you form a group to publicize a political cause, IN THE WEST, and not to want your name to appear on your own web site!!!
Are they all bahejaab, politically speaking?

What are these people?
by mehrnaz (not verified) on Sat Feb 14, 2009 10:01 AM PSTThis is a group based in the UK working inside the Stop the War, campaigning against military attack and sanctions on Iran. The membership is mainly Iranian but also British and have leftist/socialist affiliations. They are good people.
Does anyone know who the core members of this group are?
by Ostaad on Sat Feb 14, 2009 09:05 AM PSTI visited their web site and read the mission statement. Sounds cool, but who are these people?
Good article and killing cartoon!
by Mehrnaz (not verified) on Sat Feb 14, 2009 03:49 AM PSTThanks Rosie, the article is very good and the cartoon by Steve Bell ... what can I say, just brilliant (scary!) ...
