Gov. Bobby Jindal's task tonight, to rebut President Obama's first address to a joint session of Congress, was a thankless one. But it still constituted an opportunity for the Louisiana Republican to show that he could handle the national spotlight, present himself as a fresh face of the Republican Party, and stand up to the current president oratorically.
On each of these three hurdles, he came up short. Both Democrats and Republicans alike panned Jindal's rebuttal in terms that were decidedly harsh: "amateurish," "laughable" and, most commonly, "a missed opportunity."

by Kaveh Nouraee on Tue Mar 03, 2009 10:02 AM PSTUnless it's a project that is as they say, "shovel ready", I would say that it's pork, too. If building this will bring jobs right away, then I would say it's not pork at all.
I'm curious about something, and I don't know who has the answer....maybe you know the answer....if the money is refused by the state, what happens to the money? We already know that accountability of taxpayer money is practically nonexistent... I just wonder how that money would just vanish into thin air if it's not used for this.
Looki Looki. our next President
by capt_ayhab on Sat Feb 28, 2009 01:41 PM PSTBATON ROUGE - Louisiana's transportation department plans to request federal dollars for a New Orleans to Baton Rouge passenger rail service from the same pot of railroad money in the president's economic stimulus package that Gov. Bobby Jindal criticized as unnecessary pork on national television Tuesday night.

by capt_ayhab on Fri Feb 27, 2009 10:06 AM PSTYou are perhaps right when you say too much been made of it. But....
If you recall in one of the recent blogs, I made a comment about how GOP has gotten lost, and are losing their core value? They should have really put their best foot forward in this rebuttal, since it was Presidents first address to the congress. Instead they tried to imitate by bringing in a minority. just like IRANdokht pointed out.
This is just stupid beyond belief. At least that is what I think

but let me remind you that most of those "problems" were waiting on Obama's front steps when he got home.

by Kaveh Nouraee on Fri Feb 27, 2009 08:19 AM PSTHonestly, too much is being made of it.
So he didn't come off as he should have. So what? On Saturday, there will be another Republican responding to the president's weekly address. Maybe that one will be better, maybe it won't. People are panicking about 2012 already and we're not even 100 days into this new administration and there are already problems.
By the way, Charles Krauthamer and Rachel Maddow are hardly icons of objectivity, even though I enjoy both of them.

by capt_ayhab on Fri Feb 27, 2009 07:24 AM PSTLets not turn the table around, It has been long standing policy of GOP to blame and deny. This an established fact.
It is a unanimous consent among all the pundits that Jindal preformed miserably, here are couple of clips:

P/S You don't send a kid to play with grown ups !!!
:-)
by Kaveh Nouraee on Thu Feb 26, 2009 07:39 PM PSTWhen you call yourself a liberal, when you embrace elitism, when you deem people either superior or inferior based upon their ethnicity, their nationality, and their religion, when you beat the drum of equality, yet subscribe to an ideology that further widens the chasm between socio-economic groups, when you continually point the fingers of blame towards others while ignoring the facts, you are doomed to become insignificant over time.
Every time there is a speech, or a radio address, the opposing party always has a response, and each time the response comes from a different person.
This is Jindal's first big exposure. It likely will not be his last.
Smile!
by IRANdokht on Thu Feb 26, 2009 04:57 PM PSTThey saw people respond to Hillary, they came up with Sarah Palin. They saw people elect a black man, they came up with Michael Steele, until they figured it might not be the black part that attracted people, so they came up with a young manwith a foreign born father...
When you have no idea what people say and want and you're so out of touch that you go about making silly assumptions and comparing people based on gender and race, repeating the same old stale and bancrupt ideas, you're doomed to stay behind and watch everyone pass you by.
