The Israeli air industries first unveiled its new Harop "loiter drone" for taking out ground-to-air missiles at the annual Aero-India 2009 air show which closed recently at Bangalore.
The Iranian media were first to disclose that this sophisticated Israeli drone is capable of targeting the Russian radar-equipped S-300 anti-air missile before it enters attack mode .
DEBKAfile's military sources report that while Iran has contracted to buy from Russia five S-300 batteries worth $800 m to defend its nuclear sites against potential aerial attack, India and Turkey are interested in Israel's Harop killer-drone. Our sources report that the Tehran media made much of the new Israeli drone as a means of pushing Moscow to set the new batteries' delivery dates which the Russian suppliers have so far withheld.
The Harop is an upgraded version of the Harpy with more advanced features for taking out radar installations and anti-air missile installations. It can travel 1,000 km to patrol an assigned area and loiter there until a hostile target is exposed. Its 23-kilo warhead then strikes the target before it is activated in attack mode.
The Russian S-300 missile purchased by Tehran is one such target. It is classified in the West as a "game-changer" designed to rule out air attacks on its nuclear sites. This missile system is capable of engaging up to 100 targets at once, tracking targets with a mobile radar station which is immune to jamming.<... >>>

There are things that can get lost in translation in a blink.
If I don't anderstand a language, I won't go there, period!

the real objective
by Mehdi Mazloom on Fri Feb 27, 2009 03:57 PM PSTOn the same token, we could also jumble mumble between us with Hebrew language. Then I am sure the same argument as you made
"So..........are you telling me that if everyone start writing in Hebrew, your paychecks would bounce?" also could be true
The objective is to put your ideas such that everyone can read, understanda and respond through common language, which hapaned to be English.
dialogue is good anyway (to Majid)
by Anonym7 (not verified) on Fri Feb 27, 2009 03:41 PM PSTMajid, I believe it is great that Israelis comment here regardless of getting paychecks for it or not..... who knows, maybe through these arguments, jokes, insults, and dramas they realize that we Iranians and our country is not an existential threat to them despite all the rhetoric and hot air....
Eenam English version
by Majid on Fri Feb 27, 2009 12:09 PM PSTFirst, I thought you guys who are "installed" to spread your mumbo jumbo in this site could read Farsi! my bad.
So..........are you telling me that if everyone start writing in Farsi, your paychecks would bounce?
Second, since Iran does not have those S-300s as of yet, I suggest that you guys cover those "Loiter Drone" with a good amount of Petroleum Jelly "Vaazelin" for "internal" use!
btw. Do not waste your time labeling me with being an IRI supporter BS, there's just not enough glue in the world.

I can assure you, the answer to this comment lays more in Tehran then in Jerusalem. Despite what pundits will tell you, there is nothing desirable to us the Israelis, more then the prospect of living in peace and harmony side by side with our neighbors.
No one enjoys to send his children to war.

It may sound too unrealistic, but I hope a day comes that Israeli extremists stop thinking about destroying Iran (or any other countries) and Iran and Israel have scientific exchange programs in addition to cultural exchange (tourists etc), goods and services exchange ....
Too bad Zion can not read
by Jaleho on Fri Feb 27, 2009 06:55 AM PSTAgha Majid's REALITY. Concise, to the point, and done absolutely the Iranian way that Zion does not comprehend, in words or in spirit! Actually too bad that Zion can not read anything except for asinine Israeli propaganda.

BTW, I didn't know the expression "pestoon be tanoor chasbandan," can it be used like "kaseh dagh tar az ash?" It is soooo funny!

Majid, khaili ba haal bood!
by mehrnaz (not verified) on Fri Feb 27, 2009 01:42 AM PSTI began my long day with a hearty smile!!
Putting aside the issue of validity of agha Zaalem's boasting of Israel's inhuman capability to destroy, what comes through is the sheer bad taste and intellectual and moral inconsistency in Zaalem's comments and contributions: 'We are concerned about human rights in Iran', 'We can easily destroy your defences and exterminate you', 'We, Mazlooms, are under existential threat from you'!!!
These moral and logical inconsistencies and comical gestures are delusional ranting of the products of the paranoia industry in Israel, which IS actually VERY POWERFUL! We must give them that!
As for whether Agha Zaalem understands your great Farsi prose, don't worry, those who gave him the Khandaniha talk and the Farsi 'cut and paste' to stick on his blog, will assist ...!
What is behind it.
by Mehdi Mazloom on Thu Feb 26, 2009 09:38 PM PSTMajid agha, it is true, my farsi is not that good. Put in English.
"It is an American technology" some of pundits yell their lung out.
"nah baba" others reply "Israelis just get these exotic weapons handed to them by the American". Nonsense and here is why
One important element many of you out there seem to miss.
1. It is official. per capita, Israel is number 1 in the world with R&D expenditure.
2. Here is the secret. Thanks to idiots like Hizbollah yesterday, and Hamas today, and all throughout the past 60 years, Arabs and now the Akhooda have challenged Israel through various forms of warfare.
Whether it was through massive conventional military forces, or through terror attacks. The latest one is through psychological warfare - send teenage homicide bombers to inflict as much horror as possible with clear objective to break the will and spirit of the Israelis.
The latest weapon in their arsenal are missiles and rockets, designed to bypass Israel front line defense, and reach the civilian population.
Here is the point. So far, all these idiots have accomplished is motivate the Israelis to put their best and brightest scientists to develop very effective defensive technology measures against all those challenges. The irony is, Israel not developed all these counter measure for its own defense, they also developed very lucrative market and sold them to other countries like India, Turkey and many EU countries - with handsome profits, and good will relationship with them. (shoot two bird with one bullet)
For some of you who remember the Yom kipur war in 1973. Israel had lost more then 110 fighter planes to Egyptian and Syrian stinger missiles, which were later supplied to Hizbollah. Ever wondered why none of the Arabs countries ever manged to repeat the same feat?. Israel developed a drone the size of the toy plane, which was creating a big foot print on Syrian radars. Israel would Send few of those drones along its borders, then force the Syrian to fire their radars, revealing their exact locations and frquencies back to ground. IAF would lock their air-to-ground missle onto these frequency and take out.
Lebanon II war in 2006. Israel lost quite a few Mercava Tanks to Hizbollah's Russian made anti tank missiles. In response Israel did develope a gun mounted on each tank, whiich sparys a cloud of steel balls onto incoming missile to disintegrates it before it hits the tank.
Ever wondered that why Hamas, with all its cache of arsenal and elaborate bunkers, did not mange to hit even a single Israeli tank. Or successfully detonate a booby trapped buildings. All due the lessons learned from Lebanon II war.
Israel defense industry is in final stage of resting a system which will shoot 98% of incoming rockets from gaza and Lebanon projected to hit on populated area.
So you see!, hamas and Hizbollah are very good guinea pigs for Israel (and US) to develop ever more sophisticated weapon systems.

another stolen technology from US
by zigggyzag (not verified) on Thu Feb 26, 2009 04:57 PM PSTZionist steal R&D from US and remarket it as theirs and sell it back to the world. The expanse of their spy network in US is staggering. Their network is some what autonomous and operates on self-funded bases. Most of these spies hold self-employment type of jobs, selling goods in the mall kiosk or run cash based businesses like moving companies and etc.
Therefore the can hide from some of the government radars in addition to being shielded by many zionist who work at the FBI.
As a result they can spy both on domestic and industrial with total impunity.

Russians giving mullahs the run-around
by Hardy HarHar (not verified) on Thu Feb 26, 2009 09:54 AM PSTRussia, Iran to sign 10-year nuclear fuel supply contract
RIA Novosti - World News
Feb 25, 2009
BUSHEHR, Iran - Russia and Iran are planning to sign a nuclear fuel supply contract for a term of at least 10 years, the head of Russia's nuclear power corporation said on Wednesday.
Sergei Kiriyenko said earlier in the day that Russia had completed the construction of Iran's first nuclear power plant at Bushehr and would soon launch a trial run.
He did not say when the plant would go into operation, commenting that this would depend on the outcome of the testing.
"We're unable at this stage to set an exact date for the launch; we have an agreed-on testing and inspection schedule," he said. "The actual date will depend on how these tests proceed."
The plant in south Iran, which Russia undertook to finish as part of a 1998 contract, was originally scheduled to go on line at the end of 2006, but the date has been pushed back several times.
Kiriyenko previously said that under the Russian-Iranian contract, Russian experts would operate the plant's first reactor and create a team of skilled Russian staff.
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said earlier the Bushehr plant would go on stream in the first half of 2009.
In December 2007-January 2008, Russia supplied nuclear fuel for the plant under control of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN nuclear watchdog. Iran has agreed to return spent nuclear fuel to Russia.
The construction of the Bushehr plant was started in 1975 by German companies. However, the German firms stopped work after a U.S. embargo on hi-tech supplies to Iran was imposed following the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the subsequent seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran by radical students.
Who are the real numbskulls?
by I wonder (not verified) on Thu Feb 26, 2009 09:42 AM PSTYou should swallow your pride and admit that after all, Israel buys its weapons from the number one most advanced, most sophisticated, most industrialized country of the world, the U.S. of A, where a lot of suckers who constantly huff and puff at Mehdi live.
Where do Iran's mullahs buy their weapons from? compare the two technologies and then come here and tell me who the real K..khols are.
A new sucker is born every day.
by Ostaad on Thu Feb 26, 2009 09:27 AM PSTAnyone who would take nonsense like "it can travel 1,000 km to patrol an assigned area and loiter there until
a hostile target is exposed. Its 23-kilo warhead then strikes the
target before it is activated in attack mode." deserves to be given the best moron award. I bet Israelis would love to sell ad space on these "drones" to generate sales while they are "loitering" over Tehran, Natanz and so on.
BTW, the Iranians have just announced they are going to cover the S-300 defensive missile sites with No Loitering signs.
Mazloom if there were a suckers award you'd be winning it hands down.
