by News Goffer on Mon Mar 09, 2009 05:12 PM PDTO.K. my bad. So, it was featured on the front page on February 12th, but it was a Valentine's related blog, hence the association:
//iranian.com/main/blog/anonymous-fish/ladies-fashions
I don't share your criticism of JJ's work and decisions, but so what?!! We can still meet each other in the News Section and keep worrying or rejoicing about world news!
Cheers Anonymous Fish!
Bye now (for sure)!

by anonymous fish on Mon Mar 09, 2009 04:57 PM PDTno... i certainly don't think you're overstepping your boundaries. as such, none really exist on iranian.com...:-) thus, "nothing is sacred".
just for the record, i didn't have anything on february 14th but that's not really the point of course.
please don't think of all criticism as being unfair. i think JJ does a great job. do i think he's perfect. absolutely not. i don't agree with many editorial decisions he and others make but i don't own the site. he does. that's the bottom line. i think he has made some grossly unfair decisions with regard to articles posted and unresponded to. it's my perogative to either stay and participate or leave. i choose to stay and participate. but that doesn't mean i give blanket approval for everything he does. there are issues in/within iranian.com that i disagree with strongly. but as i say, they are JJ's decisions to make, not mine.
i understand what you're saying though and i give you kudo's for wanting to be fair. i know JJ appreciates it as well. but please don't think my comments are made with any hostility. they truly are not.
again, thanks for speaking out. i would rather spend a few minutes clarifying my position rather than leaving a false impression. i just hate assumptions... don't you!

by News Goffer on Mon Mar 09, 2009 04:27 PM PDTThanks for replying and sorry to keep at this subject! This is important to me.
If you page through the News and Opinion pages to find your posted item (I think it's on page 3 now), you will see that several items below it, Darius Kadivar had posted an item about the same news, which was already featured on the front page. Here's the link to Darius' item.

Anonymous Fish, the reason I even care about examining statements such as the one you made is that I know just how much work and dedication of completely invisible individuals goes into publishing Iranian.com. As a user, I find it unbecoming when people take unfair jabs at the site's editorial practices.
Whatever your history is, I am sure it has nothing to do with how news and blogs are featured on this site. Wasn't that your blog which was featured on the first page on Valentine's Day? Is it fair to assume that if you were under punishment on February 14th, your blog would not have been featured on the front page?
Again, I do apologize for overstepping my bounds, but I do believe it is important to be responsible when we say things.
Now I take off!
as if
by anonymous fish on Mon Mar 09, 2009 04:01 PM PDTi didn't think of that myself...:-)
no... i did my due diligence to make sure there wasn't one before i posted it. i think it's silly to see duplicates and i see them all the time. i had seen it walking out the door as a feeder on the news and was looking for it specifically online when i got to work. it was not featured on any of the browsers... AOL or Yahoo. the story line was like 2 hours old when i posted it and i was excited that i caught it on TV.
my comment was an inside joke to rosie. i certainly don't think "too highly" of myself. so if you don't know the history... please don't "assume". however, i will acknowledge that if you don't know the history, it could sound "whiney". and that is most definitely not the case. i appreciate your comment nonetheless.
peace out!
Dear Anonymous Fish
by News Goffer on Mon Mar 09, 2009 03:21 PM PDTYour contributed news item was not featured because it was almost a duplicate of another item posted on the subject on the front page at the time.
Honestly I find your talk of a "punishment" ridiculous. You either think too highly of yourself or too little of JJ to make such a statement. You are not a regular contributor of the News and Opinion Section. If you were, you would know that not all contributed items are featured; they can't be, because there is limited space available on the front page.
If you are interested in continuing to contribute to this section, my suggestion is that prior to posting your item you take a few seconds to look at the items submitted on the same day to make sure that you are not submitting a duplicate news entry.
I hope this request is not construed as further punishment, and that you will continue to contribute to this section. I personally believe "the more, the merrier!"

by DW Duke on Mon Mar 09, 2009 02:20 PM PDTLet's hope they keep their word this time.
no, actually in this case i realized that one below you on
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Tue Mar 10, 2009 02:58 AM PDTthe same issue had already been featured. i meant to correct this but i forgot. there was a big hullabaloo on my feed about russian anti-nuclear yesterday which is quite iinteresting if you go UP the thread.
I really hadn't known how many people follow my feeds so attentively. i had no idea. because news is often uncommented. i really only just developed a kind of journalistic mind, it took a lot of practice to get an overview of geopolitics in detail.
but my blogs are very undercommented even when featured and i work very hard on them and i feel they're largely excellent and this is so discouraging. the other thing is that all this kudos yesterday came a bit late in the day because i'd already kind of weighed and balanced the pros of my impact on the readeership here with the cons, and reached a decison which i promptly relayed to headquarters.
not an oversight
by anonymous fish on Mon Mar 09, 2009 09:15 AM PDTmy dear...
i'm still being punished for my crimes against the royal family... :-)
vengence is obviously veerrrry sweet...lol
I just can't imagine why this wasn't featured. She was...
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Fri Mar 06, 2009 06:39 PM PSTIranian of the Day for almost three days and so widely discussed...ah well..i'm sure it was an oversight. Thanks for letting us know. (btw oversight's a funny word, isn't it? it's like sanction(s)..means two things which are exactly opposite...)...take care. r.
