you aren't that sharp.

The majority of those who were scammed are themselves Jewish. The last place the money would be is in Israel.

I read somewhere that his sons are the ones who helped turn him in. That would be somethng if that's the case.

What I really want to know is whose heads at the SEC are going to roll? They knew about this for ages and did nothing. And for all we know, if the housing market didn't tank, causing the rest of the financial markets to unravel and the overall economy to begin to contract, this could have still been going on.

What I said in the comment was what I =heard on CNN this morning. And you are right, I haven't been able to find anymore details about the whys and why nots. I know one thing though, I think he is trying to shield his sons.

If you happen to see any detail, kindly share them with me. Much obliged.

Actually I heard it differently.

My understanding is that he in fact has not cooperated with authorities, hasn't and won't give any information and chose to just plead guilty.

Any plea agreement would involve disclosures, which wouldn't have done a thing to realistically affect his sentence. Any way you look at it, he would never be coming out of jail alive, period. I'm sure his lawyer advised him of this and just told him to get it over with.

As far as the "lobby", the foyer, the vestibule, or whatever else you want to call them, Madoff has bankrupted 10 synagogues full of Jewish people, ranging from the very wealthy, the "comfortably well-off", the "can't complain", and "I could complain, but why bother" types.

There isn't anyone who is willing to help Bernie. But I'd bet $100 that if he said he bilked Jews out their money for supporting Israel, Ahmadinejad would take up his cause.

captain, the-lobby-that-shall-not-be-named cannot help Bernie..

by Ostaad on

because he was one of the main sources of financial support for them for years. I'm sure they won't be involved because they may need to give a lot of the money back. Besides, Bernie Madoff is hotter than a hot potato right now, and the "lobby" has bigger fish to fry and more honest and patriotic Americans to get fired!

The best the "lobby" can do for him to ensure he gets a penthouse cell, that's all.

Since he has pleaded guilty, he has to give the authorities all the information because no plea deal been made.

But then again, we shall see, perhaps SOME[to remain nameless] lobby group will get him out of the jail.

Bogus no arrest for the rest

This is bogus! He was not the only one who was involved. His sons and other associates need to be jailed. You can't run an entire "investment" company with only one person knowing there was no trades.
They are just making a big noise about him to quell anger in people and take attention away from rest of the criminals.
What a show!
