Obama is planning on writing a letter to Khamenei. Apparently, the issues addressed will be Iran's role in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as Iran's nuclear program. The question is whether this is a good or a bad idea before Iran's upcoming elections?

Why so much publicity about it?

Why so much publicity about it now? why not keeping it hidden and behind closed doors as usual where both sides feel comfortable?
