EGYPT: Bahais win major court battle
Los Angeles Times

After years of legal hurdles, Egypt’s High Administrative Court upheld a verdict granting the minority Bahai community the right to be themselves, at least when it comes to official documents. “We greatly welcome the decision. We are very pleased that this is the end of the legal battle,” Soha Abdelaty, Deputy Director of Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, told The Times. In recent years, Bahais were forced to choose Islam, Christianity or Judaism in the religious denomination slot in order to receive identification documents. Some of them went to court, arguing that they should be allowed to leave the ‘religion’ slot blank rather than choose a faith that is not theirs.

Bahai? Truly Persian???

by Realist (not verified) on

That was new to me. LOL. Stemming from Islam, an Arabic religion, and based in Haifa, in the Jewish state. Nurtured by the British and protected by the US.
Now that is a new definition for truly Persian. LOL

Bahai faith has no such divisions

by nemah (not verified) on

Bahai Faith has no Orthodox, Heterodox, Shia, Suni,Shafie, Hanafi, left or right, etc... It’s only a simple pure unadulterated faith. Truly Persian in its essence for all Human kind.
The court success was for their basic Human Rights and existence as normal Citizens of a given country, Egyptian are much more advanced than Iranians, (both Government and most Iranian inside Iran) still to this day do not recognize their own citizen as equal.
It shows how backward Iran and Iranians are, truly.
Be well my friend.
