Iran sets terms for U.S. ties

Iran has responded to U.S. President Barack Obama's offer of better relations by demanding policy changes from Washington, but the Islamic state is not closing the door to a possible thaw in ties with its old foe. Iran wants the United States to show concrete change in its behavior toward it, for example by handing back frozen assets, but Tehran is not pursuing "eternal hostility," said Professor Mohammad Marandi at Tehran University.

My bad, I though you'd at least be able

by Jaleho on

to watch a movie. You've proved yourself incapable of reading something more than  half a page before opening your uneducated  mouth. But, alas! You don't have patience to watch a movie either ;-)

PS. I think by all these anti-Bush stuff that you say, you're an enemy of America, and any enemy of America is my enemy as well!

And NO, you're not MORE American than I am. If you can prove that you pay more taxes than I pay, then we can argue about other things. But, in this country, that's the number one qualifier of who is more welcomed in America.

i repeat

by anonymous fish on

thinking that iran is going to set terms for the US is a pipe dream.  get your IRI buddies and smoke away.  what a joke... my laugh for the day... thanks!

any friend of the US is a friend of mine.  zion... if you could pick up some pizza, that would be great.  PC... grab us a 6-pack, will ya?

any enemy of america is an enemy of mine as well.

NOUN:

  1. Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.
  2. A betrayal of trust or confidence.

<<delusional to think that iran is going to or even should dictate ANY terms to the US.  good luck with that! >>

On top of Iranian .com home page, watch BBC documentary, and eat your heart out, and see who is delusional!

It is a movie, not a document to read, so you might have the attention span required to watch it. Grab a bowl of pop corn if it helps you. Invite Zion and Programmer Craig to watch it with you.

you seem to be contracdicting yourself... agreeing with mehdi yet saying you don't blame IRI for anything.

how any rational person could think that iran has had a winning policy for the last 30 years is scary.  delusional is the word that comes to mind.  :-0

delusional to think that iran is going to or even should dictate ANY terms to the US.  good luck with that!

typical hypocrisy of iri and it's evil supporters... calling the sanctions "oppressive" out of one side of their mouth and shrugging off effects of said sanctions out of the other side.

ghaffar, Iran was too strong for US

by Jaleho on

to attack it. US had tried to kill Iran and its revolution for thirty years now. From the beginning of the revolution, US tried using Saddam's free cannon fodders, its own intelligence, political push in the UN, Arab's combined finances, giving Saddam chemical weapons, and even at the end of the war US entered the war directly and militarily with Iran to kill it. US FAILED.

US tried operation Eagle Claw with direct intervention, and through its spy den, US embassy tried to impose another coup d'etat on Iran. THAT FAILED TOO.

US tried thirty years of sanction and stealing Iranian assests by freezing it through illegal bullying, it tried to force other countries to extend a sanction on Iran to kill it economically, IT FAILED.

US tried to use UN political force and threat of wars and even nuclear annihalation of Iran, IT FAILED.

US tried to surround Iran through occupying the weaker countries of Afghanistan and Iraq and putting military bases all around Iran to intimidate it to compliance, IT FAILED.

There is nothing left for US to do but to eat crow and offer Iran the olive branch. Iran should now set some terms of its own, which it is doing following its winning policy of the past thirty years.

Mehdi Joon,

55 years ago, the US took out Mohamad Mossadegh and replaced the Shah in power. I do not blame IRI for anything. I am a US citizen. We have to negotiate somehow. PERSIAN have to decide their destiny this month of June.

For the last 30 years

by Ghaffar (not verified) on

I have been following the attacks and counterattacks by both US and IRI for the last 30 years. Every time either one mellows down the other starts barking. When US attacked Afghanistan, IRI shut up and even presented their services to US. Same for when Iraq was invaded. Now US extending hands and IRI started naz o eshveh. And the story goes on and on and on..........
The IRI can not be trusted. Their survival vitally depends on creating and having enemies.

The real issue

by Mehdi Mazloom on

It seems that, this pathetic Mullah, follows the well established and proven failed mantra. Keep up that hollow posture of ya-anni, maa-am adam'aam (I am somebody) . Demand others to feed their worthless (poz) ego, regardless of the price paid by their own followers.Put their own selfish and hollow interest ahead of the walfare of his own constituency.

Never mind Iranians people's quality of life have tanked in past 30 years. Their standard of living is near the bottom. Forced into international isolation, unable to cope with their daily lives - and the way their so-called "supreme leader" tries to solve the problem, He demands world leaders to demean themselves and bow to this pathetic man, Accord RESPECT, and APOLOGIES to this clown. Just because 56 years ago the one government of Iran was replaced with another Iranian by the West .

Somebody ought to remind this backward that, apologies and over inflated ego, do not create job, Noe does it put food on people's table. Rather, it is pragmatism, diplomacy and little education in basic realities of life which bring change to people's lives.
