"February's Knesset elections," said Bantz Craddock last week, "were unable to provide an unequivocal diplomatic mandate for a new government in Israel." Gen. Craddock is NATO's supreme allied commander Europe. He is interested in Israeli policy and the extent of public support for the government because, as he said in testimony to Congress, the ongoing conflict between Israel and the various Palestinian groups perpetuates regional instability. The possibility of an Israeli attack against a nuclear Iran, which will result in Iran and Hezbollah making good on their threats to attack American assets in response, will be a test of the willingness of NATO's member states to implement Article 5 of the treaty's convention and assist in the American defense (in other words, the counterattack)

Some of you are war mongers.
by Mehdi Mazloom on Sat Apr 04, 2009 04:59 PM PDTLeave the mazloomha in Jerusalem alone. It is the Mullahs who are pushing for war, not anyone else.
Who else gives us more entertainment then Israel. It is never boring in Israel. You have them all.
Sex, lust, alleged rape, love, heated arguments in Knesset, military force, espionage, money, bribery, law and order, gangs, crime, peace, wars, life, death, comedy, cry, and laughter, what else to you expect.
Just sit back, read the Ha'aretz paper, and enjoy the show. It is exciting time.
make love, not war. Though, Israelis do both.
btw. does anyone the REAL reason, why Israelis NEVER EVER make love in public?. Write me and I will reveal the secret.
Belated April Fool
by Curious (not verified) on Sat Apr 04, 2009 01:52 AM PDTI am dumbfounded. What an outrage. How in the world a prestigious news outlet like Haaretz can allow such a piece of garbage to be published? Who is this guy, Amir Oren? Is he an Iranian? An Islamist? Or, a lefty? He writes, “The Mullen-Ashkenazi axis, like similar axes between heads of the two countries' intelligence communities, allows the Americans to sense the genuine atmosphere beneath the public propaganda disseminated in Israel and to understand the extent to which Israel is really concerned about the Iranian nuclear threat.”
Can you believe this? He claims that Israelis –the chosen people- disseminate propaganda. Is this guy in bed with Mearsheimer and Walt? Only anti-Semites would fabricate such nonsense.
Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, that this guy is real, a red-blooded Israeli. Then what do you make of his assertion that, “Make no mistake about the Obama administration, when it comes to Iran: Its policy differs from that of the Bush administration only in style, not in content. Its officials express themselves in positive terms, cloaked in an expression of conciliation, as opposed to the angry face worn by president George W. Bush - but the conclusions are similar, as are the results.” Really? Does this make sense to you, Israel lovers? Can anyone other than a conspiracy theorist come up with such a blatant accusation of the beloved 'Supreme Commander', Obama?
What about this part? “The prevailing balance of power within the Obama administration tends to favor attacking Iran's nuclear installations, or to tolerate an Israeli attack. A prominent opponent of using military force against Iran, Charles Freeman, who had been slated to head the U.S. National Intelligence Council, was dropped under pressure of Israel's American supporters.” Unbelievable.
His concluding remarks are even more damning: “Apparently Israel wants Obama to emerge sufficiently strengthened from this week's NATO summit, but still too weak to say no to Israel.” Only Israel haters would say something like this. Don’t you agree?
Comments at the bottom

Revolting propaganda
by Mazdak (not verified) on Fri Apr 03, 2009 08:58 AM PDTThe talk of NATO coming to defence of poor old US under attack from big bad Hezbollad and Iran is a belly laugh. The so-called writer I think is having wet dreams about repeat of a Gulf War scanrio when Bush the father lined up a posse of European countries, all in it in order not to miss the oil and gas plunder afterward, to give its devstation of Iraq legitimacy. Btw, have a gander at the comments left by the Isrealis on the bottom of the page and see how demented and revolting some of them can be.
Armageddon
by Hajminator on Fri Apr 03, 2009 07:10 AM PDTAccording to the New Testament, we know where all these will finish. It’s not in Iran but in the Mount of Megiddo, 129km from Jerusalem

There is the song Devil inside by Inxs, which resumes pretty well the situation

Here come the world, with look in its eyes,
Future uncertain,
But certainly slight,
Look at the faces, listen to the bells,
It’s hard to believe we need a place called hell
