GENEVA (AP) — The United Nations on Friday appointed a widely
respected South African judge who is a trustee of Hebrew University to lead a high-level mission to investigate alleged war crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

Israel refused to say if it would cooperate.

Richard Goldstone, the former U.N. chief prosecutor for war crimes in
Yugoslavia and Rwanda, was named to head the investigation ordered by
the Human Rights Council in January.

That is what I thought you said.

It is one of those deals, assuming the man is totally impartial, and strong enough not to get influenced, then we would have no reason not to accept his findings.

Deal is though, existence of war crimes are obvious. Most every international bodies have arrived in that conclusion. As a matter of fact, I read an article this morning NYT[Irony there] that despite IDF's statement regarding soldiers allegations, there are substantiated reports that war crimes in fact took place.

I suppose time will only show.

have a great weekend and say hi to [Your Azzizam] for me please.

sorry for vagueness

it was a matter of assuming you were reading my mind...:-)

scary thought, that!

my point or question was... will you consider this unbiased... regardless of which way it goes?  if he concludes there WERE war crimes, it's assumed you'll agree and say "well done".  if he concludes there were NOT war crimes, will you accept as unbiased?

jumping the gun a little but in light of the heated discussions this is likely to bring, i'm curious ahead of time if you'll accept the results "no matter what" and preclude any chance of backtracking by anyone "after" hearing the results.

I am not getting your point? Unbiased as to what? Do you mean the report that might come out of UN?

If so I do hope so, The prosecutor is highly versed in this arena it appears. And it will depend on cooperation they receive from Israel. Of course Israel claims that there was no crimes, so we shall see.

I personally would have rather see Richard Falk to head this investigation.

i hope this report is concluded soon

the longer it remains unresolved, the more heated individual feelings become. no one is above the law, no matter what your personal religious or ethic views are.  if israel is found to be quilty of war crimes, they should suffer the consequences.

are you going to consider this an unbiased report?  :-)))
