Jones' views echoed those voiced by US Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel at the recent AIPAC conference. Emanuel said that the ability to confront Iran depended on the ability to make progress on the Palestinian front. Solving the conflict, he said, would make it more possible to handle the threat posed by Iran.

That last part is what's most telling. It says that the mollahs are going to decide what is "just". For Palestinians, no less.
yeah and I am Mahatma Gandhi
by Hypocrisy at best (not verified) on Tue May 12, 2009 05:27 AM PDT"That has been Iran's publicly announced policy for years. That Iran will accept whatever peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinians provided it's just."
In words yes, but not in Action like so many other issues in the Islamic Republic. The Islamic Republic has a very bad track record when it comes to backing up its words with action!
The two state solution
by Kaveh Nouraee on Mon May 11, 2009 05:01 PM PDThas been on the table for a long time. It has always been up to the Palestinians to accept it, and had it not been for the interference of Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah, there might (I say might) have been one already.
May I add also,
by Morning Joe (not verified) on Mon May 11, 2009 09:33 AM PDT"The Iranian threat", the Alqeada threat, our standing in the world, and our budget deficit stemming from unwarranted wars will be taken care of too. Give Palestinians the occupied West Bank and let them have a free election without outside interference espcially from Israel, United States and Europe. But the problem is Zionism which is defined as kicking everybody out of Palestine and giving the their land to the world Jews for free!
What is the other option?
by Ignorant (not verified) on Mon May 11, 2009 08:39 AM PDTForgive me people, but what is the other option than two-state? I believe most right wing Israelis do NOT want to have a one state which includes all of the current Palestine and Israel as it would make the Jewish population a minority. So is there another option? Or do they mean having a Palestinian government versus having no government (keeping people in limbo). Do I understand this correctly?
As long as one is
by Abarmard on Mon May 11, 2009 07:46 AM PDTSuperior to the other, peace is not possible. Some media in the West are treating peace similar to democracy: You just broadcast it and it shall come. Good luck with that.
I'll explain Mehrban
by Anonymous Visitor (not verified) on Sun May 10, 2009 09:06 PM PDTThe existence of Iranian nukes makes it easier for the Americans to blackmail the Jews.
I don't mean to fan the fire
