It is increasingly becoming an accepted fact among political analysts and politicians in the West that Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad should not be taken seriously, and that the real power in Iran rests in the hands of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Who rules Iran?
by Schumacher (not verified) on Mon May 18, 2009 08:11 AM PDTTo understand what Iran needs now one must look back to the history of the country; who have ruled Iran since Arab invasion?
Between 635 AD to 1050 AD mostly Arabs. Umayyad and Abbasids although the Iranian mind was adminstrating the country and later Al-Buyids who were totaly Iranians.
From 1050 AD to 1221 AD Ghaznavids and Seljuk Turks. Here too, Iranian mind was running the country in the background through people like Nizam-Al-Mulk. And Ferdowsi wrote his Shahname (Book of Kings) before he died in 1020.
Then ccme the Mongols (1221-1380) but after 1300 agian the Iranian mind was in charge.
Timur (Turk) ravaged Iran for next 25 years until 1405 when he died but his descendants ruled until about 1500.
Then came the Safavids (1502-1736), again Turks.
Nader Shah (1736-1747) was next, again a Turk.
Qajars ruled between 1794 until 1925, again Turks.
Pahlavis were the first Iranian rulers since Arab invasion but the latest one got lost in his dream world.
Since 1979 Arabs are in charge again.
NOTE- Most Turkish peaple living in Iran were and are well integrated and without them Iran would not have been the same, as a matter of fact without them Iran would have ceased to exist. Turks were the great soldiers of any Iranian Army. They fought for their homeland Iran ane gave their lives for it. But Arab element is something else.
Solution- The Iranian element must be encouraged to get itself rid of the current problems.
The president of Iran
by Taytelbaum (not verified) on Sun May 17, 2009 04:27 AM PDTThe real test for president Ahmadinejhad in today's world, is not Iran, but the western powers, to prove he is a capable president.
He needs one, to expand more on social platforms with the west, give to Iranians more social and free intellectualism, and second examine more closely how the west perceives the treatment of women in Iran. The sword has two edges to these isolated and watertight 'classes', seen from the west.
The president is capable of understanding and keeping up with social democracy in the west at the same time, as keeping up with his own lingering problems with the Iranian people for decades now.
Akhmaghe'Nejad is bad for Iran
by Mehdi Mazloom on Sat May 16, 2009 07:57 PM PDTSuffice to examine where Iran was 4 years ago, and compare it to today. In every facet (economically, diplomatically, socially, and fiscally) he had failed.
He, more then any one else in the illegal regime of Iran is responsible for Iran being where it is today in the eye of the international community.
Even a Yabu would do a better job then this idiot. It will be very interesting to see if the Iranian themselves will see through his demagoguery, and elect him out of office.
