Sotomayor's story reflects the American dream in many ways. She grew up in a Bronx housing project, and then distinguished herself by graduating from Princeton University and Yale Law School. Her 16 years as a federal judge includes appointments from the Clinton and Bush administrations.
She is considered intelligent and energetic. If appointed, she would become the first Hispanic to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, fulfilling one of President Obama's goals of reflecting the diversity of our changing America.
