US toughens Israel settlement stand

The United States has said it will continue to push for a two-state
solution in the Middle East and press Israel to stop building settlements.
Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, reiterated the US stance
ahead of a meeting in Washington on Thursday between Mahmoud Abbas, the
Palestinian leader, and the US president.
