Even within the same country, among the same people, adhering to the same religion, does the world mean the same, and will Obama's words in Egypt represent the unifying lexicon that will meet every Arab or a Muslim man or woman's aspirations? Can one lump together those who collaborated with those who resisted; those who exploited others and those who were exploited; those who had plenty and those who had none?

Myth or reality.
by Mehdi Mazloom on Mon Jun 01, 2009 07:17 PM PDTout the entire article, this sentence pretty much speaks out loud.
Why is there an insistence on addressing Arabs and Muslims as one unified body - that is, the so-called "Muslim world" - that behaves according to specific rationale; predisposed to respond to the same stimuli?
WHY?, it is because Muslim clergies, and other Islamic leaders like the ones in Tehran, use the term "Islam" whenever it suits their agenda, to galvanize the oppressed crowds around their despicable agenda.
Just listen to the akh-mage'-nejad speak. every 2nd sentence he repeats the same tired old assertion. Mellate' Iran, Mosalmoonah to point out his dubious achievement.
in another example. Up and until a decade ago, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict was portrait with Nationalistic brush "arab" , and later "Palestinian land" . When that diatribe did not work, now Hamas talks in religious terms. "Islamic land", in an effort to draw other Arabs to do the fighting for them. It worked up to a point.
This educated author ought to examine his position more carefully, before he pins the blame on US agenda.
The main question to which every one asks. Between 7th-11th century Muslims were at their golden age. Suddenly thereafter everything went down the hill. What happened, and who is to blame for Muslims failure for past 950 years. Certainly not the people. rather the leaders themselves. It still playing out throughout the Arab & Islamic countries.
Like that famous saying goes.
SHOW ME YOUR LEADERs, SHOW ME YOUR ASSOCIATES, AND I WILL TELL YOU EXACTLY WHOM YOU ARE.
