Why Focus on Women's Rights?

The issue of women's rights is a major issue in this election and this marks the first time that reform of women's rights has been addressed so specifically and in such detail in an election. In this election in fact, candidates have moved beyond vague slogans that emphasize the high cultural and religious value placed on women, to addressing specifically the demands voiced by women's rights activists.
