“Khamenei has always had uncertain credentials as a religious scholar and he now has uncertain credibility as a leader. Everyone in Iran, the Middle East, and the world now has reason to question the legitimacy of every element of Iran's leadership and the Iranian revolution. The Iranian leadership now has to realize that it is more divided than was ever apparent before and that Iran's people and the world know it.”

The question of legitimacy aside, the people of Iran have "demonstrated" in no uncertain terms that the emperor has no clothes and they know it. This latest SNAFU by the functionaries in the Ministry of Interior did two thing. One, it revealed the insecurity and nervousness inside the regime. Two it rooyeh mardom raa beh regime baaz kard. These two factors spell the unraveling of this regime, although the tenets of the constitution including the Velayat-e Fagheeh is still unchallenged. But that time will come soon, too.
