UK Frozen $1.6B assets of Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Iran's supreme leader
payvand

Unsourced reports are circulating that British banks have frozen $1.6 billion in funds belonging to Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the supreme leader. This supposed affront is cited as another reason for displeasure with Britain in high places in Iran."The total assets frozen in the UK under the EU (European Union) and UN sanctions against Iran are approximately 976,110,000 pounds," Ian Pearson, Britain's Economic Secretary to the Treasury said in a written statement to parliament on Thursday.
The statement did not give any further details.

The answer I have given is very clear for those who can think and have an ounce of decency and courage to have concern for truth.

That's rich

by BK (not verified) on

An unrepentant supporter of the Islamic Republic of callous murderers lectures people about decency and morality!

And even that's not enough for our Mehrnaz. Oh no, she also insists on calling people liars because they dare expose the theft of the Iranian people's money by these murderers.

Keep banging the drum for the Mullahs, Mehrnaz. I'm sure they are proud of assiduous defence you are putting up of all their kesaafat-kaari.

BK - Don't you have any decency?

by MEHRNAZ SHAHABI on

Don't you dare sully the name of Neda and the democratic movement in Iran with your lies and dirty agenda.  boro khejalat bekesh.

If you are incapable of reading my comment because you are blind with hatred and agenda, at least show enough decency not to use Neda and other innocent blood, so coarsely so soon.

This applies to you too:

There is an EVIDENCE however, and that is the clear evidence of the gullibility and unscrupulousness of those who lack the moral and intellectual candour to care about truth. I also see clear EVIDENCE of the absence of courtesy and use of lying and slander in debate, which is the hallmark of those who have nothing of substance to say!

"The 1979 revolution transformed the Rafsanjani clan into commercial pashas. One brother headed the country's largest copper mine; another took control of the state-owned TV network; a brother-in-law became governor of Kerman province, while a cousin runs an outfit that dominates Iran's $400 million pistachio export business; a nephew and one of Rafsanjani's sons took key positions in the Ministry of Oil; another son heads the Tehran Metro construction project (an estimated $700 million spent so far). Today, operating through various foundations and front companies, the family is also believed to control one of Iran's biggest oil engineering companies, a plant assembling Daewoo automobiles, and Iran's best private airline (though the Rafsanjanis insist they do not own these assets)."

Irannostaliga! - There is EVIDENCE!!!

by MEHRNAZ SHAHABI on

Your EVIDENCE says:

""The total assets frozen in the UK under the EU (European Union) and UN sanctions against Iran are approximately 976,110,000 pounds," Ian Pearson, Britain's Economic Secretary to the Treasury said in a written statement to parliament on Thursday.

The statement did not give any further details."

It says nothing about Mojtaba Khamenei!!!!!!!!  This statement by Ian Pearson is according to the link in the article in relation to the asset frozen in the EU as part of the EU sanctions on Iran.

There is an EVIDENCE however, and that is the clear evidence of the gullibility and unscrupulousness of those who lack the moral and intellectual candour to care about truth. I also see clear EVIDENCE of the absence of courtesy and use of lying and slander in debate, which is the hallmark of those who have nothing of substance to say!

nostalgia, I wouldn't sweat it over Mehrnaz khanoom

by BK (not verified) on

next thing you know, she'll be demanding "court of law standard" evidence to prove beyond any reasonable doubt, 100% fool-proof, absolutely irrefutable, completely beyond any question that the Islamic Republic's murderous thugs were responsible for Neda's murder.

And even then, the likes of her will defend the Mullahs.

Here is the evidence:

by irannostalgia.com on

Those of you complaining about lack of evidence, READ the article well. This part is the evidence:

" Ian Pearson, Britain's Economic Secretary to the Treasury said in a
written statement to parliament".

The secretary of the British Treasury is giving a written statement and you idiots are asking for evidence?? On top of that this Mehrnaz person complains about journalistic standards then the headline for her comment is "I have a crush on some anglo guy!!!!! "  Yeah: Definitly I'm going to pay attention to you particularly since you have a crush on some Anglo Guy!!

Regarding if part of the money belongs to the "Tuleh-Sag" Akhund or not. I will say one simple thing: Probably due to legal reasons in banking they cannot release the name, thats why it says "uncofirmed sources". But I have no doubts!! Common!!

I have no idea WHO exactly, and I am not making any judgement whether or not the news is true or false.  What I AM saying is that the article does not offer ANY evidence or explanation even, as to the origins of this news.

It is a known fact that the MI6 (British secret service) is a fabricator of false information that it channels into the media in the form of news and analyses and creates atmospheres and public opinion, such as the preparation for war on Iraq.  You might want to read this interview I did in 2007 which relates to this news fabrication industry.

//www.countercurrents.org/shahabi300607.htm

I agree it is very serious.  We owe that to ourselves, with all this suffering and innocent blood flowing, that we are not used and abused as the plaything of the powerful and corrupt whether in Iran or by foreign powers.   My particular concern here relates to the fact of illegal sanctions on Iran in relation to the nuclear programme and the freezing of the assets of the Bank Melli, which belongs to our nation and how this news links the freezing of assets of Bank Melli (in Reuters) to freezing of Mojtaba's 1.6 billion.  Where was the link made?  The article does not say ...

What do you think is behind this? Why would anyone plant a rumor like this. I think it says unsourced anyway, but I'm curious. This is pretty serious.

Did you bother with evidence????!!!

by MEHRNAZ SHAHABI on

Of course not!  I read this news in Payvand and was aware that not only was there no evidence offered that the 1.6 billion dollars account belonged to Mojtaba Khamenei, at least Payvand took it upon itself to make the point that the news is UNSOURCED!!!

In fact in the original link from Reuters, there is no mention of Mojtaba Khamenei and the freezing of account is expressly linked to sanction measures.  At what point was Khamenei's son squeezed into this item of news, you should ask, and then in the interest of truth and national interest try to ascertain whether it is true.   In a Western democracy, this should be easy enough to find out especially when the info is about an enemy!  I must say, for the benefit of the ignorant, that this is not in defence of Mojtaba Khamenei, but in defence of journalistic accuracy and more importantly, opposition to sanctions illegally imposed on our country

Honestly, so much for aspirations to accountability and scrupulousness!!!

"unsourced" report means...

by Shadooneh (not verified) on

nothing more than made in UK gossip. The Brits have frozen Bank Melli's funds in UK in order to "molla khor" our money. Those funds belong to the Iranian people, and why they are kept in that pirate's den is beyond me.
The Brit want to Iranian people's money so they have come up with a ridiculous excuse to stick it to the Iranian people as usual.
How come Mojtaba Khamenie kept $1.6 billion dollars in the UK and that "honest" government kept quiet all this time?!!!

Truly disgusting

by irannostalgia.com on

Definitly an article worth reading. Apparently the Akhund Bozorgs son has more than 1 Billon dollars in his accounts. It's interesting but many iranians inside Iran don't realize what big thiefs these ayatollahs are. We know offcourse that "tooleh"-sagh akhund has not earned this money by having invented the Windows Operating System or anything like that.!!!!!
