"We have seen courageous women stand up to brutality and threats, and we have experienced the searing image of a woman bleeding to death in the streets," U.S. President Barack Obama said at a White House news conference yesterday, noting the recent events in Iran.
"While the loss is raw and painful, we also know this: those who stand up for justice are always on the right side of history."

brave women of Iran
by IRANdokht on Wed Jun 24, 2009 01:02 PM PDTListen to this clip, my heart broke for the woman who witnessed the beatings and the ones who were beaten. (not so much for her husband who fainted) Iranian women have been on the forefront of this movement and their presence has been essential.
I heard Roger Cohen on NPR talking about how at night even, it's the women's voices that dominate the neighborhood.
Thanks for posting the picture captain!

by anonymous fish on Wed Jun 24, 2009 10:55 AM PDTHow lovely and so well deserving for the incredible women in Iran. I've always said - if only women ruled the world. :-)
