PARIS — Iran courted new levels of post-election isolation from the European Union on Wednesday as European diplomats pondered whether to withdraw the ambassadors of all 27 member nations in a dispute over the detention of the British Embassy’s local personnel.

Even "some major changes" will be pretty much equivalent to the demise of the IR as we know it then there will be no need for "regime change"! right? LOL!
My best regards,

by capt_ayhab on Wed Jul 01, 2009 03:16 PM PDTThanks for your comment, and to answer your question I should say that I do not think that the issue is the presidency anymore.
In manner which Khamenie demonstrated the ugliness of the coup, and his full support of Ahmadinejad, at this point I think it is more about the legitimacy of the entire regime as a whole, rather than Mousavi becoming the president.
With that said, as angry and betrayed as the nation has been in the face of the brutality of the regime in silencing them, one can never tell what might happen if Mousavi gets the presidency.
My own gut feeling is that IF Mousavi gets the re-vote, for time being people might and will settle for some major changes, short of demand for the regime change. One thing is for sure, If energy is kept up, and IF call for national strike succeeds we might easily see Khameine's fall.

by Inquiring minds (not verified) on Wed Jul 01, 2009 02:12 PM PDTDo you like Mr. Mohsen Sazgara also believe that protesters only want Moussavi as president and that is ALL they want?!!
he claims that protesters will all go back to their homes when/if Mousavi becomes president because that was ALL they wanted and the only thing that bothered them and made them protest!!!
