NORTH COUNTY -- As they watch the beatings, the panic in the streets and the sights of a people turning against one another, the minds of two Carlsbad women race back to 1979 and their home country of Iran.

"It reminds me so much of that time," Goli Golshan said about the unrest in Iran after this month's disputed election between President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and challenger Mir Hossein Mousavi.

Golshan, who has been in the United States for 19 years, was living in Iran in 1979 when the shah fled the country and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini came to power in the Islamic Revolution, which included the 444-day hostage crisis at the American Embassy.

Thirty years later, turmoil again rules the streets of Tehran as opposing sides clash over the country's leadership, with many Iranians convinced Mousavi won the election, although the official results were for Ahmadinejad.
