Iranian opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi, who has charged post-election detainees were raped, said one of the victims has disappeared after being interrogated, his website reported on Wednesday.

Karroubi said the judiciary officials had "intimidated" and sought to "condemn" the unnamed victim in questioning, the Etemad Melli website reported.

"This person had been treated so outrageously that he has disappeared and there is no news of him," the reformist cleric who was defeated in the June 12 presidential election said.

The victim was said to be among protesters detained and later released.

Karroubi did not say whether the man had chosen to go underground, or perhaps even harm himself, or if the authorities had acted against him after his release.

Kourroubi blames fired prosecutor

Speaking of widely anticipated coverups,  the same sequence of news briefs at Tehran Bureau now reports that the Medical Examiner is now claiming he did not issue multimple permits for his mass burial.   The public will ask, "Why would he change his mind?" and draw the obvious conclusion given the regime's record of intimidation.  Meanwhile a prominent reformist has been arrested on a charge of "propagating lies" for not accepting the governmentt's statement at face value.

Khamenei wouldn't tamper with witnesses, would he?

by FG on

No matter what the public thinks, officials appolinted by the great holy man to "investigate" anything from rigged elections to rape, murder and torture in his gulags would never be tempted to cover up crimes Khamenei himself seems to have approved.

Under no circucumstances would the Islamic Republic stoop so low as to tamper with, intimidate or kill off witnesses.

No regime could be more admirable than the Islamic republic of Iran. especially since it is ruled total by a kindly, honest and moral individual like Khamenei.
