Washington, 14 September (WashingtonTV)—An aide close to defeated Iranian presidential candidate, Mir Hossein Mousavi, and a prominent human rights lawyer who belongs to Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi’s rights group, have been released, the ILNA news agency reported on Sunday.

Alireza Beheshti, the aide, was released on Saturday night, four days after his arrest, ILNA said.

He is a highly regarded academic who headed one of the two committees that investigated the torture allegations of political prisoners detained in the aftermath of June’s disputed presidential election.

According to ILNA, Hassan Khomeini, grandson of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini – the founder of the 1979 Islamic revolution – visited Beheshti after his release.
