Eight years later two major wars have cost hundreds of billions of dollars. Millions have either become refugees or killed. As the tyranny of institutional violence and war spreads, there is less freedom and security. Intoxicated with its historical myths and military power, America is now morally and monetarily bankrupt. Perhaps next time a revolutionary spirit in America, whether in the form of an individual, group, or movement, has it in its power to begin the world over again: "However our eyes may be dazzled with snow, or our ears deceived by sound; however prejudice may warp our wills, or interest darken our understanding, the simple voice of nature and of reason will say, it is right."(7)
