In an interview with NPR on his latest New Yorker Article, titled ‘Preparing the battlefield’, the renowned investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reveals more striking details of his findings on the aim of the $400 million budgeted US covert operations inside Iran. He provides valuable information on US military preparations to strike the country, on the total expansion of the Bush Administration’s executive power, about the US recognition of Iran’s overall positive role in Iraq and on the US support for the anti-Iran terrorist organisations Jondollah, PJAK and MEK.
Hersh explains that the aim of the US covert operations inside Iran is to create a pretext for attack with the goal of regime change. “The strategic thinking behind this covert operation is to provoke enough trouble and chaos so that the Iranian government makes the mistake of taking aggressive action which will give the impression of a country in acute turmoil”, he said. “Then you have what the White House calls the ‘casus belli’, a reason to attack the country. That is the thinking and it is very crazy.”
On Iran’s role in Iraq, Hersh points out: “There is absolutely no clear evidence known to the American government that the Iranian leadership has any interest in provoking trouble with the United States in Iraq by sending in people to cause mayhem or kill Americans. There is just no evidence for it.” He continues further on: “Frankly, the guys I know in the inside... >>>

aziz e delam, capt ayhab used to be, and to great extent still is, a huge IRI supporter before June 12th. After June 12th, it appears as if he saw “some” light, yes, that makes him different than people like Shah Gholam, who are just helpless and I feel sorry for him, but nonetheless, ayhab has ways to go.
Just recently he posted some BS propaganda piece blaming the suicide bombing killing those Fascist Sepahis on the “U.S”, the same tactic, failed tactic, IRI has been using for 30 years now. And you know what, as Iranians, even if “CIA” did it, we should be thankful to the U.S, not bash it, if we bash it for killing the Sepahis, which it didn’t’ then we support those Sepahis. Why are we making this complicated?
I hope you can go back to June 12th and see his posts/comments. All pro IRI. I don’t know about you aziz, but to me, anyone who supports IRI, like Shah Gholam, is an enemy of the Iranian people.
If U.S. military doesn't
by benross on Tue Oct 20, 2009 09:10 AM PDTIf U.S. military doesn't have a plan to strike Iran (or any 'hot' area in the world for that matter) then it is a lousy military. If that strike plan necessitates some 'local' preparedness, then I'm almost sure CIA has worked on it. But going from this common sense to this dramatized version that Seymour Hersh formulates, strikes me as a self promoting piece of bad journalism.

Now our Kashani is nominating himself to take Seymour Hersh's place.
But Kashani, if I were you, I would take your tail's suggested advice (Annonymous111) and stay silent. you make the whole pack look awful. You guys are here to give a face lift to Israel's image, you don't want to have a tarnished image as bad as Israel's, do you? That would be insult to the injury!

Guys, Hersh and Shah
by Farhad Kashani on Mon Oct 19, 2009 04:44 PM PDTGuys,
Hersh and Shah Gholam and Capt ayhab and others are all part of the same group: out of touch confused misguided misinformed anti American Islamic fundamentalism supporting Leftists.
This Seymour Hersh is the most discredited journalist out there. We all remember how many times he said he has “credible undeniable 100% correct info that U.S is attacking Iran In June of 2006” ! How many times did he say he has “first hand info from the highest sources in Israel that it is attacking Iran first in summer of 2005, then 2006, then 2007 again”! How many times is this guy gonna be wrong? Honestly, why would the U. S possibly help Jundollah? What can they get out of it? Killing some Sepahis (brave as it may be) every once in awhile? That’s great victory for the U.S?? are you kidding me! The Sistanis, like most other minorities in Iran (and even the majority Persians) are under sever oppression by the hands of the IRI and they have been fighting for their rights forever. Now they are at a desperation stage that’s why they resort to these things. As far as the Iranian people are concerned, this is a heroic act, and I hope the ones who killed those Fascists Sepahi generals rest in peace, and I hope Sistanis and other Iranians, can get rid of the IRI regime, which is the source of all the world’s pain and agonies.
Guys, name me 1 thing that IRI didn’t blame on America? Just 1 thing! For god sake, they call an uprising of an entire nation a “BBC Coup!”. This guy Shah Gholam did! Go back and look! Even Satan has more dignity than these people!
The only audience for Hersh and his other Leftist loonies are people like Shah Gholam and Capt ayhab and others. See how quickly Shah Gholam and capt ayhab came to this site and found some garbage anti American propaganda and posted it on this site blaming this on America? See how fast they are!

The US, Israel, UK and France are the biggest sympathizers of terrorists worldwide. Nothing come close!
They are also some of the worst countries emplying state terrorism today.

Hersch was right about Bush attacking Iran & bunker busting bomb
by Anonymouse on Mon Oct 19, 2009 09:43 AM PDTHersch was right about Bush attacking Iran & bunker busting bombs. He talked about how Israel was going to be the test bed in their assault on Lebanon.
Had Israel won in their Lebanese incursion Bush/Cheney would have attacked Iran. But those (low grade uranium) bombs Israel used in Lebanon did not work and they screwed up badly.
Remember Bush had 3 naval armada stationed in the tiny Persian Gulf. Maybe he wanted to mention the news about Pentagon getting funding for bunker busting bombs again recently.
I don't doubt that CIA and Pentagon planners plan for war with Iran but I doubt this discussion is seriously being considred. In the back burner at most.
Everything is sacred.

by Onlyiran on Mon Oct 19, 2009 09:35 AM PDTI agree. I used to believe everything he said too. But a few years ago he came out and said that the U.S. was about to attack Iran within a couple of months, and that he had good sources about that, etc., which obviously wasn't true. So, I have lost faith in him and his reporting. It just looks like he comes out once a while with some provocative claim to grab the spotlight. He misses his old glory days.
Thanks for the report

I think Hersch is now out of stories to "sell" to make a living.
by Anonymouse on Mon Oct 19, 2009 06:11 AM PDTI'm starting to loose confidence in his reports. I used to like him and his reports made sense during Bush because that was Bush's strategy. This doesn't seem like what Obama is doing, not now anyway.
