The U.N. reports that Afghan opium contributes to the spread of disease and death

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) released a report on Wednesday how Afghan opium is contributing to the spread of disease and death. Afghan opium trafficking is causing a ravaging effect across Europe, Russia, and Central Asia. Addiction, crime, disease, and insurgency are the threat of Afghan opiates. The report documented how the smuggling of Afghan opium along the trafficking routes from Iran to Central Asia is increasing the addiction and spreading diseases.
