Sarah Palin frequently refers to to her religious beliefs as part of her core values, but she has never made it clear just what those beliefs are. Now one casual remark during an interview last week with Barbara Walters may have drawn back the curtain a bit.
In response to a question about Jewish settlements on Palestinian land, Palin told Walters, "I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow. More and more Jewish people will be flocking to Israel in the days and weeks and months ahead."
Palin's expectation of massive Jewish immigration to Israel -- which would have to come primarily from the United States -- has no basis in current fact but does correspond closely to the end-times theology espoused by many evangelical Christians.
After Palin's interview, The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg spoke to a representative of Liberty University, who told him, "'What Sarah Palin probably believes is that this is the first regathering,' when the Jews all migrate to Israel. 'This is a condition for the second regathering, the regathering in belief, when the Jewish nation is converted. Then there will be the battle of Armageddon.'"
"In the last two weeks," MSNBC's Keith Olbermann commented on Tuesday, "she has revealed pieces of the puzzle of her religious doctrines that suggest she shares the beliefs of her church, the Assemblies of God, tha... >>>

IRANdokht, Again, no
by Farhad Kashani on Wed Nov 25, 2009 05:47 PM PSTIRANdokht,
Again, no they’re not, having religious beliefs does NOT make you a fundamentalist. It takes way more than that. Again, according to that, most people around the world, including hundreds of millions of Buddhists, Hindus and others are also “fundamentalists”, which is absurd.

JERUSALEM — The publication late last week of eyewitness accounts by Israeli soldiers alleging acute mistreatment of Palestinian civilians in the recent Gaza fighting highlights a debate here about the rules of war. But it also exposes something else: the clash between secular liberals and religious nationalists for control over the army and society.
End Excerpt.

by IRANdokht on Wed Nov 25, 2009 05:41 PM PSTLike I said fundamentalists are the same no matter what book they read and believe. I wasn't talking about religion as much as believing in what the book says "literally" and expecting the Mahdi or Jesus to come and kill infidels until blood runs like a river. W, Palin, Khamenei, AN, etc.. are very similar whether or not you want to admit to it.

Palin and Ahmadinejad both believe in religious fascism!
by vildemose on Wed Nov 25, 2009 05:35 PM PSTThere's a widespread sense, among American liberals and moderates that there is something odd about Palin, and over the last several days speculation has broken out [1, 2, 3, 4] on statements from Palin that sound as if they might be rooted in apocalyptic belief. But Sarah Palin's churches do not teach about the Pre-Trib Rapture, and the truth about Sarah Palin's religious ties makes belief in the Rapture look positively normative...
Below is an excerpt from a new report I have written, which showcases extensive video evidence demonstrating that Sarah Palin is closely linked to a highly distinctive religious tendency, which the majority of Americans know little to nothing about, that is bent on achieving Christian dominance over all significant sectors of society including government, business, education, and media.
Over the course of the past year, working together with a research colleague, I have extensively documented that Sarah Palin is tightly associated with the top leadership of a newly formed Christian tendency called the New Apostolic Reformation. The goal of the movement ? - This is not about the "Rapture." It's about Christian supremacy.

If you really have to know, I’m not a religion person, and that’s all I’m gonna say. As far as what I said, yes, the Left is regressive for obvious reasons.
It takes more than believing in a book to make you “regressive”. Some of the nicest peace loving Muslims are devote Muslims, but they interpret it differently. They even wear the Burqa, go to mosque for every prayer, and so forth. Also, some of the most peace loving nicest Christians are devote Christians who believe Jesus embraced everyone, including Gays, non Christians and even Animals. According to you logic, most people in the world are “regressive”, including hundreds of millions of Hindus, Shinto, Buddhist and others who follow their religious book word by word.
It’s not what says in the Quran or bible, its what some people like Khomeini interpret it. Just because Bush said he believes in Jesus and he reads the bible, that doesn’t make him “regressive”, and just because UBL said he’s religious and so did Bush, that doesn’t make them same! That’s absurd! Bush was the head of one of the most liberal countries in human history with unprecedented diversity and religious freedom. Come on! Like I said, these heartless Leftist loonies created this culture of misinformation and character assassination that is destroying this country.

by IRANdokht on Wed Nov 25, 2009 05:14 PM PSTThe "no actually" was it for her beliefs (my question) or are you saying actually leftists are regressive when everyone in the world can tell which direction is toward progress.
Sticking to the thousand years old words as gospel and believing then literally is what regressive means, whether it's the old testament or the Quran. As far as I am concerned fundamentalists like W and Palin are the christian equivalents of AN and BinLaden.

by Farhad Kashani on Wed Nov 25, 2009 05:05 PM PSTIRANdokht,
No, Actually Leftists who falsly demonize conservatives are more fanatic than others. They hide behind pretty terms like "progressive" but in fact, no one is more "regressive" than them.

Here’s another one! They
by Farhad Kashani on Wed Nov 25, 2009 04:58 PM PSTHere’s another one! They got done with Bush, now they found Palin to demonize!!!
These people never learn, do they!!! They are discredited, they are losing elections, losing credibility, they are proven wrong, and all they do is keep beating on the “bashing and demonizing Republicans” drum to satisfy themselves!
Let them join the sinking ship!! Jon Stewart is losing ratings, NY Times is losing readers, Democrats are losing elections, Obama is perusing Bush policy, but these people are silent about the most fanatic regime of all time, the Iranian regime, but are vocal about demonizing Bush, and now Palin!
Its really sad!
