Visiting Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko conferred on Sunday with Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on expansion and deepening of mutual cooperation.

The Russian minister is in Tehran to attend the eighth meeting of Iran-Russian Joint Economic Commission, IRNA reported.

At the meeting the two sides expressed satisfaction with holding of the meeting which they said would help bolster mutual cooperation in transportation, telecommunication, energy, commerce, economy and banking fields.

Mottaki said, this is a very good opportunity for both sides to further exchange views and broaden mutual relations and cooperation in various fields.

Iran and Russia play a very significant role in regional and global developments, he said.
