An Iranian diplomat who was detained by the US military in Iraq and held for more than two years, says that he was tortured while in American custody.
Majid Qaemi-Heydari was among the five Iranian diplomats who were abducted by American forces in a raid on Iran's consulate in Arbil on January 11, 2007.
In an interview with Fars News Agency, Heydari said the behavior of his American captors was worse than the violence they showed against Iraqis.
"They had put covers on our heads, they cuffed our hands," he said adding that the soldiers were later criticized for not cuffing the diplomat's hands behind them.

What makes you think the guy is telling the truth ?
by Darius Kadivar on Tue Jan 12, 2010 05:04 AM PSTSince when was Press TV a source of Objective news ?
They claimed that Neda Commited Suicide !
what proves this guy was not forced to say this in order not to dissapoint his own bosses ? Or simply says it because he serves the regime and shares it's policies ?
Soviet Era diplomats were also trained to say lies or at worst if they feared to be accused of incompetance by their bosses would exagerate their own predicament in order to even be promoted in the administration as "heroes" ...
After all Ali Abtahi who lost 18 kilos was forced into making confessions that he was involved in talks with Anti Regime groups and claimed he was not tortured. How was it possible for him to lose 18 kilos in two weeks after his arrest ?
Yawn
by cyclicforward on Tue Jan 12, 2010 04:54 AM PSTAs if we believe in anything IRI and it's PressTV says and does. IRI have no legitimacy and it is a proven fact that nothing true comes out of their disgusting, filthy mouth.
So... its ok
by maiser on Tue Jan 12, 2010 04:48 AM PSTSo... its OK to torture and do other crimes or make laws that are criminal to basic human rights laws, as long as you have a investigation and talk about it later? Then everything is OK? Even if they continue to do the same afterwards, it is OK?
What do you call US policies in this matter ?
by Darius Kadivar on Tue Jan 12, 2010 04:42 AM PSTPresident Obama issued a serious investigation into Torture in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Gharib Prisons and those who commited any alledged "torture" particularly in Abu Gharib were condemned.
Has Iran at ANY Time in the past 30 years ever acknowledged ANY crime for which it has also been accused. The Massacres of 1988 or the numerous assassination attempts against figures of the Opposition both inside and outside Iran notably Shapour Bakhtiar, Fereydoune Farrokhzad, The Forouhars, General Oveissy, Shahriar Shafig to name a few ... ?
Has Iran issued a condemnation of the crimes in Kharizak Prison ? Or claimed any responsability in the deaths or wounded of the hundreds of fellow compatriots in the last months since the post election clampdowns ?
NO !
Do I endorse Torture or assassination attempts against Iranian diplomats ? No I don't !
But those who continue to serve this regime while their own people are being raped, brutalized in the most outrageous manner, are certainly Not patriots in the noble definition of the word.
Others have rightly decided to defect !
Are you saying it is OK to
by maiser on Tue Jan 12, 2010 04:27 AM PSTAre you saying it is OK to torture diplomats, and do you support US policies on this matter?
