Though a secular and democratic regime is desired to replace
the current regime, the transition shouldn’t happen through chaos. Like the one
the country was immersed into after the dismantlement of the royal regime in
1979.
To appreciate the severity of a chaotic transition for the country, let’s take
a quick look at what transpired 30 years ago. In 1979, as the Iranian Imperial
Armed Forces published its neutral stance and ensured that no acts of
retaliation would ensue, the new regime lead a bloody purge of the best
officers and most influential politicians. A wave of executions, personal and
national property seizures followed. These looting included much millenary
historical national treasure that were later sold in international black
markets.
It was real chaos. Many militias affiliated to foreign groups emerged,
including a left wing connected to the former USSR. At that time Iran became an
important terrorist platform and was transformed into a lawless region in a
state of anarchy. Many incompetent, inexperienced and ruthless criminals seized
