The U.S. State Department released its annual report on human rights
around the world yesterday, criticizing North Korea, Russia, Cuba,
Myanmar and China for their poor records.
China was criticized for its repression of Tibetans and Muslim
Uighurs, its imprisonment of democracy advocates and its restrictions on
the Internet and other new media. Because of the country’s online
censorship, Internet giant Google to has threatened to pull out of the
country.
In response, China’s State Council Information Office has written its
own report on the human rights record of the U.S.
According to Xinhua
News Agency, the official press agency of the government, the U.S.
is called hypocritical for speaking out against the human rights
violation in other countries without dealing with itsown.
“At a time when the world is suffering a serious human
rights disaster caused by the U.S. subprime crisis-induced global
financial crisis, the U.S. government still ignores its own serious
human rights problems but revels in accusing other countries. It is
really a pity,” the report said.
The report accuses the U.S. of denying its citizens the rights of
racial equality, personal security and political and economic rights.
