Why Iran Keeps Defying the West

To Western dismay, most of the current Iranian protest movement's leaders back its nuclear program. If Ahmadinejad were replaced, Iran's nuclear efforts would continue unless the US and Britain managed to achieve their strategy of imposing a new, compliant royalist regime in Tehran.

"muddying the water"

by David ET on

It is intetersting that also Halloway after his speech at UK parliament was interrupted, after the two Iranians were escorted out, said they two are monarchists. (not that I agreed with what the two did)

But the point is that the non-Iranian Regime apologists try to connect the opposition to regime to the 1979 in order to discredit the existance of a wide opposition to the regime

I posted the article because it is good to see how different views are and it did have some valid points but in between had wrong conclusions and intents..

There is no doubt that US policy is after its own self interest , has double standards and hadly has anything to do with humna rights (eg: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, etc) but at the same time, one can not trust IR with any nuclear capacity because of one simpleand undeniable  fact:

IR supports and funds terrorist groups and is also willing to use anything at its power to keep and expand its power without any sense of human responsibility as it has against shown its own citizens therefore other nations accurately have concern about IR's potential nuclear capabilities.

The art of manipulation

by benross on

Eric Margolis, an old friend of Ghotbzadeh, is still busy overthrowing the Shah, as many are!

The nuclear issue is not about what IRI claims doing, or what is currently availabe to it to do. It is about what it's capable to do, and will do, given its ideological and political interest, if kept unchecked. Is IRI ready to live without nuclear weapon? absolutely. Is it 'voluntear' to live without it? absolutely not.

There is a lot of people within IRI saying that IRI 'mismanaged' the nuclear issue. Basically stating the obvious. But this 'mismanagement' can only be justified for a regime that is not willing to subject itself to deep and vast and permanent scrutiny of U.N and international community. They don't want to jeopardize their hidden agenda. I think that they eventually will, because the survival of the regime takes precedence over nuclear ambition. But they won't do it without resistance.

Margolis piece is a sophisticated manipulation of the news on two folds, one, to attribute overwhelming support of Iranians for a peaceful use of nuclear energy, which is not a matter of political discourse, but a matter of national need in terms of providing alternative energy to oil, and mixing it with an old political cliché, which Margolis apparently didn't have time to update since he was in a dorm with Ghotbzadeh!

He also uses the same rethoric of bankrupt Iranian politicians regarding U.S intentions. U.S wants to put its own 'man' so to speak. And it's own 'man', since Margolis never participated in IC discussions, is still the same rotten cliché of left wing Iranian politics, such as his pal Ghotbzadeh (who btw was accused of plotting a CIA coup)

What Margolis is trying to do by muddying the water, is not to refute the worries of U.S and international community about IRI nuclear ambition. He can't. So instead, he hides behind a propaganda hoopla that U.S is looking for putting someone in Iran it can trust.

It's for Iranians to put someone in power in Iran they can trust, and it won't be the monarchy since the monarchy won't have any political power. It can be trusted, but it won't have the power to be trusted or otherwise. But Iranian people will put someone in power that they trust, and they trust that it can gain the trust of international community as well.

U.S is looking for the return of 'a new compliant royalist' in power. Nice try Mr. Margolis. Now go back to 70s, with your pal Ghotbzadeh.

Iranians are looking for restoring the trust in their government. Undoing IRI is a historic necessity for regaining the trust.

Margolis calls Kamenei 'spiritual leader'. I suppose as any professional observer would do, to remain 'unbiased'! That says it all.

Monarchy has a big part in restoring the trust. You don't Mr. Margolis. Neither the 'anti-imperialist' generation.

Distortion again!

Please read this report and tell me why is the Headline such a farce?

first of all, Eric Margolis article is about a month old. Secondly, it is one of the best, most accurate of the issue concerning Iran's nuclear efforts. Where does it say that iran "defies" the West?

Like many other headlines here, they twist and turn the reports to change them into anti-Iran propaganda.  Just READ this article, you'll learn something.
