Iranian vehicle manufacturer Saipa has opened a new production plant in the city of Kashan, reports IANS. The company invested around Rials 4,000bn (US$403m) in the new facility, which will have an annual capacity for 150,000 vehicles, rolling out sedans and small cars. The plant’s line-up will include the Tiba model, the first Iranian car entirely made and assembled in the country.

Meanwhile, compatriot Iran Khodro expects to set a new production record for the Iranian year ended 21 March 2010, with output of around 680,000 vehicles. For the current year, the company hopes to boost this to 730,000 units.
