Abarmard,
by No Fear on Mon Jun 21, 2010 02:02 PM PDTI am not saying this institute should be under government total control. It could have the public as the shareholders which they can decide who the board of directors would be, and have a set of rules and guidlines in place which outlines the responsibilities of the university. Since this is an institution related to higher education and since the public interests are directly involved, the government should impose a set of regulations like other higher institutes.
My question is, based on what did you give it away to a specific group of politicians? A group that didn't spend a penny to deserve ownership of this cash flow institute? Atleast, why didn't you give it to the teachers or professors or the department deans? What the hell does any politician has to do with this ?
I never meant government should own it. No , i believe in privatization as well. But to give it away like this, is an insult to all of us.

by Abarmard on Mon Jun 21, 2010 01:46 PM PDTThis is not public tax money, it's people private disposable income. That means people gave money and want a service in return. It's a contract between two parties. Why would government get involved?
There is no need for any extensive intervention here. The institutions can be regulated but left alone to function as they have.
Abarmard,
by No Fear on Mon Jun 21, 2010 01:15 PM PDTThere are so many things wrong with this deal.
First of all, Azad university as a higher education institute must be observed by the ministry of higher education. Without a government permit, how can they be allowed to train our students? Some sort of intervention and regulations are necessary for the sake of the public.
Giving away the entire university ( 250 billion dollar worth ), to a few wellknowm corrupt politicians ( Why did you give it to politicians anyway?? ) who didn't spend a penny of their own money to create it, is highly questionable. This university was built by peoples money and it should be under public domain , not privately owned and certainly not given to a select corrupt politicians!
The irony in this entire issue is that the Majlis ( the people ) have allowed this highway robbery to take place!
I sincerely hope that the Guardian Council which i oppose their existance all together , for once shows itself useful and over rule this law since its against our public interests.
Isn't it alarming that the entire group of politicians who will financially benefit greatly from this deal, all belong to a specific group with a known ring leader? A ring leader who has the final say on who can be a member of the founding committe to share the pie. Is this acceptable? Is this justice?
This will go down as one of the worst decisions that our 10th parliament has ever made. They shot themselves in their own foot.
Is Azad university private?
by Abarmard on Mon Jun 21, 2010 12:08 PM PDTIf yes, then corruption is their right. If they lose money, it's their business. It charges fees and without any government support pays for its expenses. If it's corrupt or not, it's none of anyone's business.
Recently there was a gathering inside the country to create a competitive mentality among "government" organizations. Those who promote these ideas are either blind to economic incentives or think that people are willing to forget about their economic battles to make the system function.
It's all too childish. Meant well, but way out of reality zone.
The issue here is control rather than corruption.
Can`t get over this anger.
by No Fear on Mon Jun 21, 2010 04:43 AM PDTThis was grand theft larceny. What can you do about it ?... the highest legislative house ( Majlis ) , has decided to give this institution to Rafsanjani and Mousavi and Co.
Does any green supporters here wishes the likes of Rafsanjani and Mousavi have complete access (without government control) over a very rich cash flow institute like the Azad university ?
Why are the green supporters quiet ? Isn't this wrong?
For example, the university board of founders ( which includes the usual suspects ) , can use student tution fees and invest in anything they want. Like buying private jets to supporting a specific candidate. No governmental body can question their motives or decision. They can collect public funds and answer to NOBODY!
Wait a minute ! ...Didn't Azad university recieve government support for buildings, research money, subsidize currency for imported components used in labs, etc etc etc. This is NOT a TOEFL institution that you can easily make it private and give it away!
The list of MPs who supported this, must be published ! People should know about these traitors and prevent these corrupt MPs for a second term in the Majlis.
corruption? at highest levels of islamic regime of Iran?
by fooladi on Sun Jun 20, 2010 11:12 PM PDTNever !!!!!!!!!!!!

Azad University is a big case of corruption ( Must Read )
by No Fear on Sun Jun 20, 2010 10:48 PM PDTShifteh,
I am surprised no one on this forum has paid any attention to this piece of very important news.
It might surprise you that with the current green light from the parliament ( I will get to this shortly ), the university board will have complete control over the 250 billion dollar institution. The board consists of Hashemi Rafsanjani, Mir hossein Mousavi, Abdullah Jaasbi, Mousavi Ardebili and few others. This means this University does not have to show any books or accounting documents to the government. Even when Ahmadinejad is gone in two years, no other president can question the ownership of the Azad university.
How did this happen???
Well , our beloved Dr Abdullah Jaasbi has been giving honorary bachelor degrees to the Parliament ( Majlis ) members for a while now. Some MPs, like the Lar representative ( From Fars province ) have recieved all their campaign funds from the Azad University.
This was robbery on a grand scale. The head of parliament, Larijani, allowed this issue to be put to vote ( Against our constitutional laws ), and with the help of The Expediency Council ( Which Rafsanjani happens to be the head of this council and ironically, deeply involved with the finance of Azad university ).
What can Ahmadinejad do? Should he order the sepah to take over the parliament ? Do you want him to insult and disrespect the Majlis, the house of people?
What i witnessed, was one of the biggest case of corruption which was done at the highest level in IR and it was done, legally. The parliament was bought ( The majority are anti ahmadinejad ) and those who were using this huge milking cow for decades without any interferences, now can do this and keep their heads high since now this is legal!!
